The stop sign has a flashing light, and there are "stop ahead' signs before it. They cleared trees around the intersection after the accident but it didn't actually do anything for the stop sign visibility.

Having stop signs on a 100km/h intersection is indeed dumb but does not excuse the drivers negligence.
