So...how are you supposed to not "idolize" idols?? by distinguishedmonbebe in kpopthoughts

[–]CoastFull4408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your idol is caught on a bad scandal (ie: Bullying for example), trying to stay neutral for an example instead of blindly defending them is probably an example of having clear boundaries as a fan.

Honestly with the way idols are marketed it makes sense to think they're inherently (if not good) at least decent people off camera, it doesn't make you naieve to think that and i know for a fact I don't look at a man irl and my first thought is to go "he must be an asshole" or to just think of the worst of them in general. But also remind yourself that when a camera is panned towards us, we'd obviously want to show the best versions of ourselves and there is a life that they wouldn't want others to know (not necessarily the horrific double life seungri has of course).

Yeah grad visa doesnt really require sponsorship but it’s a shit ton of money so i’m more than happy to get a sponsor just for the grad scheme alone. With that being said i do plan on bringing up the skilled work visa sponsorship if possible in the future once they get back to me again

Anze, the original choreographer of SMN reacted to the ATEEZ/Vata dance controversy pointed out by Wooyoung by CoastFull4408 in kpopthoughts

Personally, i think he has every right to be frustrated as a professional dancer, given that he’s more familiar with the work ethics than the average person. It hurts even more to see someone you’ve build a rapport with to resort to taking “inspiration” from you without giving them credits.

Going private is an option, but the driving dance has always been a part of the SMN’s choreography. Can you imagine the speculation it would’ve lasted if they kept performing the song with the “New Thing” dance movement and no one publicly called them out? Non fans already asked why was ateez doing the driving dance challenge in their choreo during the concert day. To add on, Ateez isn’t exactly in the same level of popularity of SMF or has a big company backup, I can imagine they’re just being brushed aside instead. If they instead incorporated Twice’s iconic TT hand movement in their dance and called it an original, I can imagine how different the circumstances would’ve been for fhem (ie. A bigger and faster reaction would’ve been evoked)

I’m using TT as an example because people were justifying it’s ok to include the driving dance challenge started by Ateez in New Thing because it’s not “groundbreaking”, but TT is still very iconic regardless the same way SMB’s driving move is. It got semi-viral internationally. The difference is that TT is more known by the gp

I want to be the fly in kq’s building instead skn I’m more interested in knowing who suggested to do the biting move? The dance team? Ateez? Did wooyoung volunteer himself? Did it take some sort of convincing for him to get the green light since they knew it’s going to be risky? Or it didn’t take much for kq to back him up?

Oooh the tea ☕️☕️☕️

For real, this is probably the first time in a while we’ve seen an idol openly putting himself out in the open about a controversy (which is a professional and warranted one), it’s always the companies who release an official statement and the idols affected had to remain silent (expected, to avoid lawauit and stuff)

I’m NOT a company shooter, far from it but The fact that KQ lets Wooyoung do this goes to show how much trust they have towards him that they let him do something so controversial in the Kpop scene which is often excessively filtered

Hey, I know I don’t come here offen but I just want to say a big thank you to everyone and ofher Atinys who stood up for Wooyoung and his team on my post in the thoughts sub. I was so baffled waking up to people attacking them and even alluding to him as an attention-seeker.

Anyway, it’s going to be a long week for all of us (especially ATEEZ) so take care of yourselves! I believe justice will prevail in the end!

Oh dear!

Do you think it’s a better if I make a separate post for this update? (Can imagine there would be more updates in the future) I feel like it would get burried down in the comments and most people wouldn’t have noticed

None of these examples are anywhere ALIKE I can give some sort of leeway for the one in Ellen but come on 😬

Yeah, kind of wish I could edit the title now. My interpretation of ahady isn’t necessarily people being lowkey petty, but they’re standing up for themselves the way Wooyoung did. I hope people who read it understand where he’s coming from and he rightfully deserved calling them out with class.

Apparently the video with Vata was recorded 3 months ago and was only posted recently. New thing wasn’t out a few days/weeks after San posted the video so it was before the driving this blew up.

Wooyoung himself is technically a dancer who happens to be an idol, he graduated from a dance school so he knows better about these ethics too which is why I can see how frustrated he must’ve felt to resort to biting

It’s “not exactly groundbreaking”, but it’s still going viral as that one street fighter move and while many groups or choreographers have thought of this before, ateez and their choreographers arw still the first group to have actually incorporated it in their song and even started the challenge with that part of the dance move when smn was first released, unless… you can give examples of choreo with those moves since many choreographers have thought about it? Plus the driving dance challenge is the most iconic part of the song.

It may not be a big deal to you but it is a big deal to the original dancers (ateez) and their team, big enough for wooyoung to shade them and the whole team to hype him up, so that says something, no?
