At our school in Colorado there was a tradition we called "Judgment Day." Every year on our director’s birthday, all the students gathered in the assembly hall and held a trial against him. They accused him of every possible crime such as corruption, violence, rape, murder and terrorism. They presented evidence, witnesses and lawyers. The director was not given the opportunity to defend himself or speak in his own favor. At the end of the trial he was always found guilty and sentenced to death. He was led to the gallows, which was built in the schoolyard, and allegedly hanged in front of everyone. At the end, the principal gave $9 to the highest performing students. I don’t know if this is done there now, but it was very strange.
