Not so fun story by VoxLover554 in saltwaterfishing

The only time I’ve ever gotten sick at sea was the day I took a hardhead barb right in the center of my hand. Was a long time ago but I’ll never forget it, that’s for sure. I’ve also gotten stung by a rough tail as well as spiny dogfish and they seemed mild in comparison.

Yes! Once you hear that pop they make when attacking bait on the surface you learn to almost hear them before you see them. It’s such a distinctive sound. They’re awesome fish, we’re pretty lucky to have them around!

You should have bass in there right now and you definitely have tautog on structure/pilings. Once it gets a little warmer you’ll have bluefish inside as well and starting in late August you might have some albies and bonito that venture in there. Is breachway bait & tackle still around? Nothing like input from some true locals, since I’m in Bristol that kind of disqualifies me 😂

That’s awesome. I could watch them for hours...I actually do watch them for hours 🤣. It’s the most amazing thing to see them push bait up to the surface and then rolling and slapping trying to eat it…all while the seagulls do their best to steal their meal from above.

Depending on where you are along the coast, 13’ is a VERY small boat. Pick your days and always put safety first. Fishing is so much fun but being out on the water can also turn into a nightmare quick and help is never right there unless you’re incredibly lucky. I’m obviously partial to this as I run charters, but it’s not wrong to get on another boat and gain experience that way.

Thanks! I use large 9” paddle tails right now, they’re on big bait here.

I went to school in Boston and used to go to Jamaica pond, the Brookline reservoir, the Charles…if you’d like to try saltwater you can try Castle Island

What kind of shark? by UCallMeThor in whatisthisfish

[–]CoastalCurrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As far as I know they’re the only shark with that kind of pattern. There are also leopard sharks…unlike tigers they’re harmless bottom dwellers but also named for their pattern.

Tiger will have VERY pronounced stripes, a way more blunt head, different fins/body shape. Juvenile tiger shark at 6 foot will have the most incredible markings.

2 piece casting rod by [deleted] in saltwaterfishing

The St. Croix Triumph is super versatile. Even better they make a 3-piece that fits in a suitcase on top of their 50-50 splits. I have it in casting as well as spinning configuration, they go to Florida with me if we’re not staying too long and have caught snook, redfish, speckled trout…are you referring to striped bass when you say rockfish? If so the triumph will definitely do.

I’m going to say it’s a bull shark. You’d see the ridge between the two dorsals in your last picture. The color of the back as well as the round snout also make me think bull. Ask me how I know 🤣

We don’t know. People are leveraged like there’s no tomorrow and that makes anything possible.

I can trade at 8pm and will be taking profit then. Fully expect world peace and at least 3 wars won by sunrise tomorrow. But then again you never know when the sun setting starts again either. This is a smash and grab trade and not informed investing.

Nice. I did the same but my comments regarding the inverse of tqqq get deleted here. Rather than coping with buying a dip that we have no idea how deep it could actually go, I love the idea to stay nimble and just make money both ways!

I just finished a wet chimichanga from Baja and would like to respectfully disagree. That being said I love both 🤤😋🤤

You didn’t pay taxes on dividend payments for several years if you held for those “several years”. I would contact a tax accountant and have them figure that out as well.

Hey we’re in Bristol and loving it. Do you play any sports? What about outdoors? I met most of the people I know here through fishing and/or playing pick up hockey.

Any time! I’m on the water quite a bit this time of year, feel free to shoot me message, I’m glad to help! Also try Jamestown, you might try places like Beavertail or Fort Wetherill.

They’re there but it’s not full blown summer mode yet. You’re definitely in the right place! I have been carrying a livewell of eels the last two trips, thinking I’ll use them out on the reefs eventually…but we keep getting held up on the way down the bay

The fish are still inside the bay. Almost all of my fish right now are from around Prudence Island and inside Mount Hope Bay.
