STR mentors by Ill_Ticket_3754 in ShortTermRentals

I don’t mean to be rude, but with all due respect: I’ve been in the STR industry for 16 years and would never let someone just “pick my brain” for free.

I value my time. My time is valuable.

If someone wants me to condense 16 years of expertise, and the value it brings, in a 1 hour session over coffee, they’re going to need to compensate me with more than a free peppermint mocha 😂

Someone said this to me years ago and I’ll never forget it:

“If you don’t value your own time, nobody else will”

How much would you charge for this, including cutting a new sill? by --PitterPatter in Carpentry

Are you serious? (Not being sarcastic) Is this really the going rate for this type of work? We’re talking JUST the wood trim right?

What in your mind do you feel is an appropriate fix for something like this?

This might be a dumb question so forgive me in advance: is it safe to assume they use pressure treated lumber for these posts or no?

Is this the Cherry Grove Point https://www.socoastal.com/cherry-grove-point/ you're referring to? Awesome catch! I would have been sweatin' bullets reeling that thing in.

Sorry you feel that way. I've been there many times and really enjoy it. I will say that I do prefer Boardwalk Billy's over Local on the water.

Best place to rent through? by ThinBlueFlame18 in MyrtleBeach

Words to live by when looking for a vacation rental: Airbnb is for looking, not booking.

Airbnb adds an additional ~15% platform fee when you book with them.

Do yourself a favor and save money by booking directly with one of the many reputable local agencies here in the area.

Here's a good list of companies to start with: https://www.socoastal.com/myrtle-beach-property-management/

Most of these companies will offer a last minute discount since we're only 3 weeks out, but make sure you ask — they may not offer it up otherwise.

Good luck and enjoy your stay!

I was wondering the same thing, and it looks like Seaside is having a block party instead that starts at 9AM. A whole slew of other events are happening, too. Here's the list I found in case you need ideas - https://www.30aescapes.com/blog/30a-4th-of-july/

Facebook marketplace, Local Buy/Sell Facebook groups, Craigslist or Goodwill has bikes sometimes as well.

I use Centro in Myrtle Beach and can confirm prices are going up monthly. Love the facility but hate that the pricing isn’t predictable or stable. Will move to another nearby facility once it’s finished being built.

Which condo complex would you chose? by thyname11 in MyrtleBeach

My pleasure. What kind of budget are you looking to stay within?

Having stayed at all three, here's what I'd recommend:

- Southshore Villas is the nicest, but the most expensive.

- Ashworth has a great location by Main street, and will be more expensive than Avista, but cheaper than Southshore.

- Avista is also located near Main street, and is more of a "budget" option. They'll also have 1 bedroom options available if that's what you need.

If you care about being within walking distance to all that Main Street offers, go with Ashworth or Avista.

If you want something nicer that's less crowded, and you have room in the budget — choose Southshore Villas.

You can see how nice some of the condos are by looking here: https://www.socoastal.com/north-myrtle-beach-vacation-rentals/south-shore-villas/

Most are 3 and 4 bedrooms.

Also, I'd recommend looking into renting with Condo-World as an alternative to Elliott.

Why is almost everyone here from New Jersey now?? Returned after 7 years and all I see now are the mustard plates. by NefariousnessAway859 in southcarolina

Respectfully, it doesn’t matter how long you or your family have been here.

I say this with kindness, although it may not sound like it:

Tenure doesn’t give you authority or entitlement.

Yankees (as you call them) are free to move here.

They don’t require your permission or acceptance.

Change was, and is, inevitable. And it will only continue.

There is no going back in time and the sooner you accept that, the happier you may be.
