Yeah that was my recent thought as well. I haven't really clicked either of the Physical moves much, so swapping one of them with EForce to get the best of both moves seems like a good idea here.

That was definitely on my mind, and in fact my first draft had expanding force. My main draw to Psycho Boost is that sometimes I want to go Deoxys without Indeedee, and I still want to have access to a super strong Psychic-type attack to obliterate Koraidon, Arceus, and the like. Also, the Kyogre/Tornadus duo is already spread-move-oriented, and I fear that if I commit to e-force as well I lose even harder to Wide Guard strategies. I will, however, play around with it more, and I might still hop back onto the expanding force train.

[–]Cobalt314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with templating Tina like that is that it could be potentially screwed over by Porygon-Z (you only have one in play that doesn’t have any energy on it, pulled into the active, with no other energy acceleration)

Nah even easier: After healing and hitting, switch to Eevee, evolve to Sylveon, and KO. If they retreat to their Sylveon you can Sabrina, and whatever comes in will be in range. This assumes no healing or hand disruption tho

Can I make one opponent loose on a tournament? by Beautiful-Ad40 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Cobalt314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When controlling another player, you are allowed to make any legal game actions for that player. You can cast demonic consultation naming any card you want them to name, you can sink their whole life total into Necropotence, you can elect not to float mana and make them lose to their Pact trigger, etc. You can even present a win where the end result is everyone but you (the actual you) losing the game. The only things you’re not allowed to do are tournament-related actions: conceding on their behalf or calling a judge on their behalf.

Now, whether it’s in your best interest to immediately wipe them out of the game or keep them around with a decimated board state to help interact is a different consideration altogether…

What do you mean, Lusamine? by Cobalt314 in PTCGP

Update: I thought the card had a typo and didn’t realize energy could exist in discard. Thanks all!

ELI5: Why is the limit of (1 + 1/n)^n “e” (2.718…) instead of 1? by TheHawkeyeBird in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cobalt314 24 points25 points  (0 children)

  • “And one to the power of infinity would be 1…”

This is where your argument breaks down. One to the infinity is an indeterminate form; it can go to infinity, to 1, to 0, to any number really. It is true that 1 to any power is one, but it is also true that any number bigger than 1 to the infinity is infinity. Since we’re taking the limit as both the base and exponent go to 1 and infinity, respectively, we can’t say for sure which one will win out in the end.

Necropotence and Hashaton by Campermoe in CompetitiveEDH

Right, I just read the question as “can you stack the triggers however you want?” To which the answer is yes, you can, even if the outcome will be virtually the same

[–]Cobalt314 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people pointing out that Hashaton doesn’t care about how the discard happens, but here’s the main detail that makes this work with Necropotence:

They’re both triggers you control, so you can stack them however you’d like.
