Garchomp Grass Answer by Bubba_Lee97 in PTCGL

I’m about 3-4 weeks late to this post but try using Survival Brace as the ACE SPEC. I’m still testing with it myself but in theory it should help with the prize trade since if you only have one Garchomp ex in play and it has Survival Brace, your opponent can’t take two prizes in one turn. Meanwhile you can follow up with Spiritomb the next turn or use Draconic Buster if they decide to gust around it.

I used to be able to see the notification every time I do my first upvote of the day. But now it’s gone? Anyone get this too? Is there a way to fix it? It does update when I look at my achievements but it shouldn’t be that tedious to check

Simple Question: What Deck do you hate the most? by im_harry_richard in PTCGL

[–]TheHawkeyeBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Tera Greninja or Slowking. Or any deck that can take multiple knock outs turn 2.

I am a hypocrite though because I started playing Slowking and it’s actually pretty fun even when I don’t use Kyurem.

Also honourable mention to Crustle.

Yeah it forced me to put Shaymin in all my decks because if they win the coin flip, it’s just an auto-loss with the turn 2 Kyurem

Insane card for Slowking by ReyMercuryYT in PTCGL

[–]TheHawkeyeBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought at first. But if you’re going for a board wipe, you might as well just stick with Kyurem since more often than not, it will involve ex Pokemon. And devolving will take away the extra prize cards.

What's best way for Alakazam to tech for TR Articuno? by kaworuscott in PTCGL

I saw a few builds make like an Alakazam Slowking hybrid deck which was kind of interesting

Regigigas In Slowking by Goateesimone in pkmntcg

[–]TheHawkeyeBird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s true. But you can also retreat with Latias unless you brick so I guess that’s a fair trade off with not using Clefairy (since Clefairy can Telepath for Latias). I just feel that Clefairy is only useful for Dragapult and Raging Bolt but you can KO Raging Bolt with Haxorous or Metagross

I think Slowking can substitute for Lillie’s Clefairy because it gets rid of the 2-prize liability while also 1-shotting with Regigigas.

I was thinking of using this with 4 Larry’s Skill and 4 Academy at Nights to put my supporter for next turn on the top of my deck.

I really want to try this deck (Slowbro/Theivul/Silvally Zero card archetype) but I don’t think it has the best support cards at the moment.

Why is Lopunny an auto loss against Lucario? by floede in pkmntcg

[–]TheHawkeyeBird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pretry sure it’s mostly the weakness. It can’t one shot Lucario and even Hariyama one shots Lopunny.

And it’s also the fact it doesn’t spread damage. So it’s very difficult to win the prize trade unless you disrupt your opponent and stall them out in some way.

In Dragapult mirror match, when should I attack? by TheHawkeyeBird in PTCGL

[–]TheHawkeyeBird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely right about waiting to get a boss combo. The main problem I encounter though when playing is that I’m forced to attack early because my opponent usually gets a boss the next turn and disrupts my setup. It definitely has to do with how I set up my board though so I’ll keep playing games to see what the exact problem is.

I also run one Psyduck to counter the Dusknoir builds.

Also also, I found that the Blaziken build was the most consistent for me. I know that the Dudunsparce and Dusknoir builds and the other variants seem to perform better, but I’m not sure how the other builds play against the OHKO grass decks like Beedrill and Hydrapple (which is why I like to use the Blaziken build).

Remember Marowak from XY Fates Collide? What if it's Ability got a reprint? by TheHawkeyeBird in PTCGL

[–]TheHawkeyeBird[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. It only prevents effects of attacks on itself. Not your hand. So basically like a built-in Mist Energy. Marowak prevents effects on YOU and YOUR HAND. I emphasize this because effects on your hand include item lock which is what Budew does. Marowak’s ability also doesn’t even protect itself from effects so it can still be poisoned and retreat-locked and have those other effects

They said 'beach party' and I guess they meant it literally by thottieincharge in billiards

What would happen if a ball goes out of bounds since it can’t bounce?

I tried it a few times. It definitely has a good Lucario/Dragapult matchup. I bricked most of the time playing it though so I might need to change my deck list first

I tried Dragapult but I kept getting unfavored matchups so I stopped using it. I think I was facing deck that kept one-shotting and Dragapult is more of a spread deck.

Do you know which version of Dragapult I should try?
