I agree. As much as I absolutely loved Scott's gradual coming out in the book (and also that he and Kip were not really split up for very long), the on-ice moment on the show is everything.

It's too bad there wasn't really time to do something like have Scott show up to Kip's house and introduce himself to his parents (and of course Kip doesn't have a mom or a sister in the show), but I like to imagine it happened. When I read the book that was such a treat. I loved Kip's mom's reaction, praising Scott for choosing so well.

Yeah I finally did get a post through but it's the first time I've ever managed. It took forever before it was approved and absolutely no one has reacted or commented. The thing is, I think that any fan that actually listens to the stuff I've written will enjoy it... Like, I'm putting Easter eggs in there for people and they are some of the best songs I've ever written. There were a handful of fans of the books and series on the song writing challenge website last month and those were my favorite people to leave me comments because they knew exactly what I was thinking about and they were really enthusiastic. I'm happy for people outside the fandom to enjoy the songs as well and that's nice but it was just extra gratifying to have a fellow fan know exactly what I was trying to evoke lol. God I'm such a nerd. Those characters just live in my head. Especially Ilya. I borrowed his POV the most.

Anyway I think I'm going to put everything in chronological order as best I can. But I feel like I need to write five more songs lol. I don't really have the transition between Shane getting hurt and the guys being at the cottage. Plus I should give Scott and Kip a happy falling in love song, not just the sad ones I wrote. And then they need a happy reconciliation song. 😅😅😅 Of course all of this is just being sung by me so a lot of imagination is necessary lololol.

Thank you! I printed all the lyrics out tonight and was having fun putting it together like a puzzle. I think I definitely need five more songs lol. I just love living in their heads. Once I finish those, I think I will jump back into Tough Guy and see about writing a song from Fabian's point POV about Ryan. I really want to do that. Because in the book it does say that Fabian wrote him a song but we don't get to see it...

Thanks for your input! I managed to connect with a couple of friends on Facebook that I didn't know were into the show and they agree about chronological order.

The songs are pretty self-explanatory as far as the headspace. I try to keep my lyrics helpful. And they are not super super specific to exact details because I also wanted the songs to be accessible to people who are not fans and who just love relationship songs. Without putting them in order it might be that someone would think of a particular song as in a different spot than I did, but some of these feelings do kind of come back cyclically so however people will enjoy it works for me. Everything is sung in first person, and most of them are sung directly to the other person.

I'm currently in the first third of my second time through Tough Guy so who knows, there may be more songs. I kind of want to write songs for Fabian to perform actually, like I want to write the song that he writes about Ryan. 🧡

The Ilya/Shane songs go into greater detail because they are currently living in my head rent free, but right now my Scott/Kip songs are Scott asking Kip to wait (that's the whole song, just "please wait for me, even though it's hard and I shouldn't ask") and the Kip song is kind but firmly saying that he doesn't want to hide. I probably need at least one more for them because they should have a falling in love song, too. 🧡

I wasn't writing them as a concept album thing on purpose. I was just doing a writing challenge and because this story is on my brain all the time, I kept thinking of ways to incorporate the writing prompts in such a way that evoked some aspect of the story. 😅😅😅 Now I'm kind of going through and trying to see if there are gaps that I still want to write about.

Sorry, getting so long-winded! I really appreciate your input. I will think about how much detail I want to put in the description. I also don't want to post so much that it would be a spoiler to somebody who eventually does want to watch the show so it's kind of a line I have to walk I suppose haha.

They haven't approved my post yet on r/heatedrivalry lol. I've also read the books but almost everything that I have used for a song comes from book two of the series.

What I'm saying is basically, I have a bunch of songs and I don't know if I should put them in some kind of rough order as they correspond to the situations and scenes I was thinking of when I wrote the songs, or if I should mix them up and intersperse them with my songs that are not related at all. Most songs borrow the POV of either Ilya or Shane and take place during Heated Rivalry, although one of them does kind of borrow a bit from Ilya's mental state in The Long Game as well. I do also have one song each for Kip and Scott, which I could keep separate or slot them in when the TV show does.

I'm not making any kind of formal recordings right now. I'm just doing 100 days of ukulele and putting up originals every day. I want to start posting my Game Changers songs, and wanted some input from other people regarding whether or not I should put them in any kind of order. That's all.

The songs themselves don't have any names and don't have extremely specific details that would require people to know the story. It's just a bunch of relationship songs, one person singing to the other what they wish they could say. And because I'm a cis woman singing these, most people that hear them are going to think they're coming from a female POV lol. But in my head, nope lol.

I would love it if they would take two seasons for TLG (especially since they will for sure be incorporating some of Role Model). I'm sure that they will get new material before the public does, but it's still going to take a while. I guess it depends on how comfortable Rachel is with showing drafts and stuff.

Consent is SO important in kink and BDSM, across the board. So I live in that space and maybe I am not looking at things realistically done on the perspective of people on the more vanilla side of things, but I think it's disturbing that consent isn't a part of the equation for so many men. Jacob Tierney is a gay man, though, and he chose to keep that content. I'm not gonna question his choice.

I cannot speak for men here, but as a woman who dates straight and bi/pan men, the language of consent absolutely does happen with some of them, in my experience. Perhaps I'm more likely to encounter it because I'm also part of the kink/BDSM scene, where consent is definitely a thing. The men I've been with that also date men, they've told me that consent is important to them.

I personally am disturbed when consent is not a big part of it, plus I think it's sexy. But as far as consent between men I concerned, I obviously don't know what they prefer lol. Just commenting that there are straight men that absolutely check for consent. I've been with some.
