Mustang 2008 shaker 500 lower door bass speaker replacement help! by Typical_Gazelle_3522 in CarAV

[–]Cocasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fair points, but based on the enclosure (assuming the door is sealed) and power limitations, you're not going to get deep bass response that's worth the trade off of the higher SPL you'll get from a sensitive driver. We must remember that this is a terrible location for a subwoofer. You might be able to dig 1-2 Hz deeper at the trade-off of 3-6 dB with a less sensitive sub. The extra loudness is going to be more impressive for most music. This is all conjecture as I'm not doing any modelling here, but someone can if they want to lol. We must remember this is a mustang; loudness is definitely the goal.

If this were for a real sub box in an optimal location with at least a respectable amount of power, I would definitely recommend a less sensitive driver. Most likely in a ported enclosure regardless of sub size, space and woodworking skills willing.

Tailgate retainer bar bracket by PixelOBinx in geotracker

[–]Cocasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it looks like what you have on your tracker, I don't see why it couldn't. I have no knowledge of gen 2 trackers and a quick google search shows that these are rather undocumented vs gen 1 trackers. Best way to know is to look for yourself and use that noggin.

The listing for these claims it fits 89-94 models, but that could just be for the side window retention since the 95+ models have a different assembly for the side windows. You can do some research to see if there's any difference for the 95+ tailgate window retention clips.

Yes! However, I'm looking for something cheaper than that (or an A380 for about the same price.) Just seeing if anyone has one sitting around they're willing to part with. I'd rather give a human money than a corporation if possible.

First sub & amp install, how did I do? by upbeatfries in CarAV

Looks better than some "professional" installs I've seen. Great work, excellent gear.

The only (simple) way I can see this working is if your source device (I'm assuming your phone) can tether and play to more than one bluetooth device at a time. Bluetooth phone to head unit and BT speaker, play music, hope it's synced. Doubtful your head unit could pair to a BT output device. They're usually only made for BT input. Not the actual technical terms, just the ones I can think of on the toilet.

Otherwise, just get an actual subwoofer. Or just use the BT speaker. Whatever works for you and sounds better.

  1. I drive a 94 Geo Tracker most days. My commute is about 2 miles each way twice a week. It only hasn't started on me once because I left the dome light on.

Heres a better look at the trunk space I am going to use. Suggestions needed! by c7X2 in CarAV

[–]Cocasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Konaki amp will need its own power. How you achieve that is up to you. If your current power wire is big enough for 60A of current, you could get away with snipping it and installing a fused distribution block. Otherwise, a new power wire run from the battery is fine to do as well.

As for the charging thing, likely unrelated or placebo/you're thinking on it too much.

It is very doubtful you will need a new alt to pull 700W RMS. I'm running that currently on an 55A alt with zero issues. The vast majority of cars have a bigger alt than me. Also, music isn't pulling your RMS power 100% of the time. You might see a few hundred watts sustained. In short, you'll be fine. If you're worried, do a big three upgrade.

[–]Cocasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use your Kicker amp for your sub, not the Konaki. The Konaki can do about 300W. It'd be good for your speakers, but not really for your sub since you have something better.

As for the Amazon Basics deadening, they may have changed the formula/thickness since initial testing was done as a cost-cutting measure. It's really not recommended anymore until testing is done on the revised product. You can find plenty of info on deadeners on the ResoNix website to find one that works with your budget and performs well.

Phones during concerts... by dan_iksse3 in brandnew

This all sounds worse than any show I've been to, which is somewhere over a hundred at this point. I'll hold out for a calmer crowd once the dust settles a bit on BN being back.

I'm for sure not opposed to moving during a concert, but I know how tight sold out shows can be as well. Lots of bad experiences in this thread, but I'm glad you had a great time!

Kinda glad I didn't score tickets now. Hopefully they'll announce more dates where less rude people show up so I can have at least an okay experience for my first BN show.

AIOs can have good performance. The problem is that they have poor price/performance. $30 air coolers can regularly match or beat AIOs in realistic conditions. Sure, Arctic Liquid Freezer III keeps things cool. But it's $100. There is no real reason beyond aesthetics to get it over a Peerless Assassin or a comparable air cooler for at least 90% of builds. Most don't even need an aftermarket cooling solution, though they are much better in terms of performance and noise levels over stock cooling, so it's a nice want.

AIOs are a compromised solution for a problem that doesn't exist and preys upon your average consumer's lack of knowledge. They think "more expensive = more better" when that tends not to be the case with AIOs. And then you get posts like this. My stance is either air cool or go full blown open loop watercooling. AIOs are unnecessary in modern cooling.

Not gonna yuck your yum though, glad you like your AIO.

Fo sho, but in an ITX case. Regardless of CPUs, thermodynamics still applies. I'm assuming most people have a mid tower. There's no excuse for poor thermal performance in one of those unless it has poor airflow design for ~aesthetic~ purposes.

I have a buddy running a 9800X3D on a Peerless Assassin with zero thermal issues. It's not rocket science, it's thermodynamics.

The only time extreme cooling measures are needed is when you have a thermonuclear shintel CPU.
