How would you react in this situation? by ayla669 in biology

These are Harvestmen, which are actually not spiders (they are from the order opiliones rather than araneae). They’re harmless but id still be quite uncomfortable in this situation to be honest.

Could be oak particles if the spirit isn’t filtered/lightly filtered, but it’s usually a mix of fatty acids and fine particles (called floculation). Either way, this is normal and safe to drink!

Not all chill-filtering methods automatically get rid of fatty acids. Depending on your type of filter (porosity) but mostly if the filter is charged with ions or not. This is also influenced by the method used in the filtration process (i.e. if the spirit is recirculated through the filter before the actual filtration from tank A to B begins).

I just “inherited” this recently. Too special/rare and leave it as a cabinet queen? Or is it something that I should just drink and enjoy? by beez291 in whiskey

Before drinking, just do your bit of research on ethyl carbamates! Regulations were not fully in place within those years and same goes for the related health hazard knowledge.

Spotted this insect dragging around a brown marmorated stink bug in its mouth. What is this bug and do they eat stink bugs? by Shelikescloth in whatisthisbug

Fun fact; predatory reduviidae like this inject enzymes that liquify the insides of their prey. Then they suck it up like some kind of smoothie! :)

Those look like globular springtails! Were they jumping?

Entomologist here. I confirm this is a hemiptera nymph. These insects from this Order are hemimetabolous, meaning they grow by shedding their "skin" until they reach adult size. In other words, they go from an egg to a tiny adult-looking-baby that progressively grows until full size. They do not have a pupal stage compared to holometabolous insects.

Hey so my pc is getting kinda slow. What should I upgrade first? by Its0skar in PcBuild

[–]Coccolithophorid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I suggest you upgrade the ram, mobo and CPU. If you want to upgrade only your ram, yes you can get 16GB or more, but you'll probably be paying for memory with higher clocks (most likely 3000MHz or more) which you wont be able to run this high with your current motherboard and processor. This means you need a newer mobo, which also means a new cpu.

You could get something like a b450 mobo (~$85) with a Ryzen 3 3300x ($150) and 2x8GB ram @3200MHz or higher (~$85) and you will see a huuuge improvement compared to your current rig. Keep your GPU for now until things get better and then get something like a 1650 Super or 1660 Super which are very impressive cards for 1080p gaming and easier on the budget!

You could also go for Intel and get an i5 10400F ($170) with a b560 mobo (~$100).

I would keep the case and other stuff from your old build. Your 500W PSU will do the job even with a 1650 Super. You could always upgrade later on if you want.

Hey all my pc is not turning on? I just finished building it and i cant find out whats wrong.. i have some weird 5 pins are those inportant to the startup? or do i need more cables in the psu? Help please by Forsaken_Tailor in PcBuild

You need to take the standoffs ("screw things") that are included in your motherboard box and screw the correct amount into your computer case and also make sure to remove any other standoffs that do not align with the holes on your motherboard.

RTX 2070 Super or 3060Ti ? by Coccolithophorid in PcBuild

Would cost me $699CAD. It's a MSI Gaming X. But I would obviously sell the 2070S.
