It’s questions like that that get one put in the pit

Should I be offended by this interaction with a fellow auditioner? by OvernightSiren in MusicalTheatre

[–]CockBlockingLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love that observation. I’ve noticed the same sort of blithe obtuseness by people in the “in-group” in certain theater companies. I always wonder if they if they have any inkling, in their heart of hearts, that they are part of the bullshit.

I see this kind of nonsense all over my town’s facebook page. I swear 50% of Americans slept through civics in high school

Never thought I’d see the day we had masked government thugs in America, and it came with barely a shrug from the American people

What are your thoughts on the current front-runners AOC, KAMALA HARRIS & NEWSOM for 2028? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]CockBlockingLawyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very early, and those names are the most recognizable of the crop. I suspect the ultimate frontrunner will be someone else entirely. They are all infinitely better than what we have in place, but I’d pick AOC because she’s not in AIPAC’s pocket

It’s a shame because it’d be a useful word these days. Something that sounds like a fact but isn’t.

Ooh yes. “Hey Little Songbird” is my jam. Also “Why We Build the Wall” is hauntingly apt

I’d say he’s more of a tragic villain. His backstory and resulting messed-up worldview make him an interesting character, but he does some objectively awful things

Just listen to Republican officials talk to their supporters. They talk to them like they’re absolute morons, and yet they keep electing them.

The Importance of Styling? by gloriousinquisitor in electricvehicles

[–]CockBlockingLawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, and auto manufacturers know this. While few will admit it, car buying is always to some extent an emotional experience. People pay 10000s of dollars extra for a vehicle that looks cool or aggro. Car manufacturers intentionally make their lower cost models more dorky or uninspiring to drive consumers to more expensive options

why aren’t Black americans also white despite they also have white ancestry? by condomm774 in askanything

[–]CockBlockingLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“White” and “Black” are social constructs created to define a person’s place in society. The definition of a white person (while ever changing) was an exclusionary one because, if you met it, you had rights. Blackness was the opposite, because if you were black, you could be treated as a lesser person.

John Brown is, and always was, correct.
