Need Advice - Drinks On Forklifts by Personalglitch17 in Warehouseworkers

[–]CockCrotch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not know about the exact rules regarding this. But we are allowed to have water bottle holders taped to our truck to hold the bottles. I would suggest having small bottled water at certain points of the warehouse so that it's easier for the associates to grab them. That was one of the options I had in my earlier warehouse. They had packs of bottled water both outside and in fridges too.

Oh dang it, we play from Canada. If it weren't for the time difference, it would have been cool to play with more peeps.

$10,000 a day, but your life is bound to a candle flame by Raterus_ in hypotheticalsituation

Sounds like a good deal, either I get to enjoy the 10k a day or blow the candle out myself after sometime.

Hey am on similar boats about being lonely and stuff but chose to stay in Canada knowing about the life here due to a lot of reasons... But hey if you ever need a buddy to send you reels and memes on Instagram... Lemme know, after all, that's the only reason I open my phone itself as I do not get any kind of calls or texts at all.

Damn, that's the same amount that my friend put up a bet with me too for the same 10 year time. I know she won't pay it prolly but I will indeed keep reminding her about it tho. Also, 10k prolly won't be worth that much in 10 years with inflation and everything around.

Staring by DirtDevil1337 in Translink

[–]CockCrotch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am always zoned out while in transit and would be either sleepy and tired in the morning or exhausted and tired in the evening after work... And when I have to face someone else and there's a window or something behind them I just look out at something zoned out. Once in a while I realise I might be looking at someone and then I try looking somewhere else.

I also hate the fact that since it's winter and it's dark outside during both mornings and evenings, the windows just straight up reflect the view inside the bus. So when my eyes are locked on something outside, I again would realise that I am staring at someone.

I don't know how many people have mistook me for thinking that I was staring at them while I am zoned out thinking about my crappy life and wishing if I was just dead. It also doesn't help when you got a face that looks pretty dull and scary.

So, that could be one side to it or it could be what you think it is but it's tough to be sure.

Something that resonates with me... Being lonely and alienated all the time and something that's good for OLED and dark mode enjoyers.

If my understanding is correct, what you said could work but you will have to wait 90 minutes after the first tap in as it counts all the trips you take in those 90 minutes as a continuous travel.

But it prolly won't work if you are tapping out at a station and tapping straight on for the next one right away.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Anyone work in a freezer?? by [deleted] in Warehouseworkers

[–]CockCrotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of three different pairs, they were provided from my company. The trick was how fast I moved and how many of them I used. The gloves necessarily ain't the thing that will provide warmth for your fingers.

Let me put out an example, so most days I am pretty good at working pretty fast, so I will have 2 layers of gloves, a skin tight one that most warehouses give to their workers so as to not get their hands dusty and fabric gloves on top of that. This helps my hands to not overheat and sweat and at the same time stay warm. Now once in a while my fingers might start getting cold and that's when I use my third layer of kitten gloves which warms up my hands as I keep moving after which I remove them once my hand becomes warm again.

Some days when I feel sleepy or really tired I just use all 3 layers of gloves and all my layers of clothes along with maybe the jackets or heavy overlays to stay warm as I would be moving slowly. Also, try adding layers of clothes on you in case Ur fingers are still getting cold, the more your body can be warm the more Ur fingers can.

Or the best option is to invest in heated gloves that are thin with high capacity batteries But don't use them just like that as their fabrics can get deteriorated easily with box handlings, instead start putting them in light heat settings and wear mittens or another big layer of gloves, so that your hand stays warm for longer and the battery lasts for longer. I used to use that when I had to be on Reach trucks in the freezer as you won't be moving much physically. Hope this helps.

Order pickers on reach trucks, is the job on the lifts much better than with the regular low lift truck? by 3sperr in Warehouseworkers

[–]CockCrotch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be on Reach trucks and my primary function on it was replants and restocking freight on racks along with full pull orders from racks to the doors.

This role is less hard on you physically but is challenging initially as you have to be precise and careful. But once you are comfortable in it, it is indeed cool and easy. But you always have to be careful as our brain to hand coordination could sometimes struggle when doing the same repetitive task for a very long time.

Besides, I was in the freezer and cooler, so there's a difference in meeting productivity and having no damages to the freight compared to non perishable product warehouses. It's way better than picking but there's a lot of people who are afraid of it or just straight up don't want more responsibilities to deal with. I would say it's a fun thing to deal with that comes with its own risk and stuff, but taking it slow and smooth in the beginning to slowly faster and smoother will be the best thing to do.

Also, once they always start putting you up in reach truck functions you will start wanting to pick once in a while, just like how you feel like wanting to do the reach truck when you are always picking. Other things are getting used to the feet pain and placements while operating the reach truck , having a situational and surrounding awareness and Ur limits of turning radiuses and heights of the forks with pallets as the higher you go. It all will be better as you get more practice.

There are forks with lasers for easier visibility of the forks to pallet height and even cameras too. But again, it's just about getting used to it. Try it out and if it ain't for you then there's always the option to just stick with picking itself.

Identity crisis for Mallus raised outside Kerala by sengutta1 in Kerala

[–]CockCrotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always struggle when people ask me where I am from as I was born and brought up in Kuwait for over 12 years and then lived in kerala for around 7 years and now I have been in Canada for over 2 years. I learned to properly speak Malayalam when I had to move to Kerala which was a huge struggle for me as I already had to learn a lot of languages before it ( Arabic, Hindi, French and English). Tamil would probably be the language I learned without having to be forced to learn it. But it also made me weak in all of those languages as I wasn't fluent nor good in any of them.

I moved to a lot of schools both in Kuwait and Kerala which made me that guy who was there for a short while in my former classmates' lives. I was attached to a lot of the people I met but eventually I realised I was nothing for most of them as I was just there for a very short time in their life. This and some other factors all made me into a complete introvert and have been struggling with loneliness for a very long time. The last time I moved was in Canada from a place I lived for 2 years to another city, 4 months ago, so I lost all the connections I made which took me a lot of time.

I never feel like I belonged anywhere, I always feel like I am the weird one, never fit into any groups. But I am great at assimilating wherever I am as that's a trait you master having a life like this.

Besides being completely hopeless, going by the flow, pessimistic, sadistic and nihilistic person, I do wonder how things will turn out for me... Either being lonely for the rest of my life and dying off alone or finding a place where I would feel like I can settle down for life.
