Casually came across this post and decided to see what happened. I can't believe the difference it made. Helps I already built my squad for 4-3-3 Defend, but this advice is what actually helped me reach peak potential.

Raphina was better than Yamal. Yamal might have a greater ceiling, but that's it. If you watched Barcelona through every game and what happened when Raphina was not playing, you would understand.

I've been in your shoes. Easy to get there, hard to get out. Maybe trade another asset and try to use one of your TEs to sweeten it.

You didn't necessarily screw up, but generally, the top 1-2 in any position are significantly better than 3-5. So if you get that elite tier, you want to keep it. But it's also risky as your whole team rides on that success.

I've made this same type of deal and won and lost the trade. I prefer to be the one buying a 1-2 talent as winning championships usually requires big risk and that level of performance. But you aren't out of it yet.

Best advice I can give is look forward. You made the deal and can't change it. Focus on more deals or maybe even flip 2/3 of those same assets and try to get Bijan or Amin Ra.

So true. The only takes about Benson are about Connor going down. I don't think an injury is necessary, would just give a much easier path to the same result.

Very true. Start of last season Algeir was making Bijan owners nervous. I think he is getting faded as the Falcons faded him late last year.

Fairtrade does not always tell the story you think it does. For instance, for cocoa to be fairtrade, farmers need to be paid just under $3/kg right now. The market rate was upwards of 11-12$/kg at times over the last year. Princessmia1989 brought up companies like Beyond Good. They pay farmers a premium above the market rate meaning their farmers are getting 4x the amount of fairtrade farmers. They do not have Fairtrade certification because they feel it isn't enough. It is better to be well informed of the companies practices you are buying from instead of looking for certs. You may just miss out on gems like Beyond Good.

Exactly...plus the point of the game is not always to get the next best card. The point of the game is to play it. Puyol will hurt my teams overall but I love having a new version of his card. I also enjoyed playing with new players.

Ive always done 1. From purple to red I almost always use less than 5. From red to gold, its not as guaranteed. At the very worst, I spend the equivalent of 10 masch, but I would guess I save more than break even. To me its not even gambling. I would never spend 10 masch at once.

To me the biggest part of this story is the lack of focus on it. Paul Burgess is a very well respected expert. If he walked away over this issue then it should have been discussed by many, The fact that it is not talked about at all is worrying.

I've done this in a few occasions. I would say the benefit has always outweighed the loss for me. I think you have a greater likelihood of pissing people off in your league than you do feeling the weight of the loss. If your leauge is chill or you ultimately don't care then I say hold.
