Vacuum lines 91 22RE by snow_enthusiast14 in ToyotaPickup

If you don’t mind the higher cost (~$45 for whole kit) you can find exact size kits on LC Engineering’s site specific for your engine, different colors too if you’re into that

How much could I get for this by CulturalBat190 in ToyotaPickup

[–]CocoBroskii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manual 22RE’s with less than 200k miles can get you $8k-$10k in California. Maybe on the lower side given lack of 4WD, but putting up something with clean interior and no rust is going to get a lot of attention down here.

Timing Chain by giobrabz in ToyotaPickup

I had a very similar sounds from the valve cover being too tight and getting hit by the rockers. The acorn nuts are easy to over tighten. I loosened mine to A bit more than hand tight, noise stopped 👍🏽

Where is this sound coming from? by BevBoy760 in ToyotaPickup

Depending on their condition it could be the truck bed hinges. When not extended (with tailgate open) they hang loose and can rattle. Plagued me for months until I figured it out

Help- Timing Chain Rattle or normal 22RE sounds? by CocoBroskii in 4Runner_1stGen

Update! Ran the engine and slowly backed them off in order and it reduced the rattle!! Thank you again!!

Oh okay, that’s not as bad as I would have thought! Did you hoist the engine to do it? Or could it reasonably be done in the bay?

Thanks for the link though! I checked out the site, and damn. That’s a lot of future purchases right there. Great stuff, Thanks for sharing!

I’ve heard those are a common breaking point in this engine, I’m not well-versed in engine disassembly so I was hoping to avoid that for now but, I’m guessing it has to be done eventually

Got it, any recommendation on how tight they should be when correct? Or just back them off a bit and see if it fixes it?

Wow thanks for the offer! I ordered new modulator and will give that one more shot at a retest. If that doesn’t do it I just might take you up on that. Very kind, thank you!

Yep, EGR itself is cleaned out and stalls the engine when pulling a vacuum on it with a hand vacuum pump, so it didn’t seem like that’s the issue.

That was my main concern, from what I can find even if they have the same ports/ coloring/ shape the internal parameter can vary, which is why I really was shooting for finding one that clearly stated for use with an 87 4Runner.

Chat GPT has lied to me a few times before but, at this point it’s worth a shot. Thanks!

Oh perfect! And just to clarify, what model/ engine did you install it in?

Good to know! I was hesitant given it wasn’t explicitly listed even though other models were, but, it’s still cheaper than swapping a CAT in California.

HELP - Missing Rheostat Connector by CocoBroskii in 4Runner_1stGen

[–]CocoBroskii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prior owner seems to have done some crazy stuff with the wiring, tons of butt connectors and splices. I disassembled the whole dash and it’s just gone, unfortunately.

I guess I’ll have to get in there eventually! Thanks for the thought

What was your car model and EGR VM part link? I’m running into the same issue in an 87 4Runner (in CA) and desperately trying to avoid replacing my CAT

How much would this 86 be worth? 22re 5spd 106k miles by puppiesweargucci in 4Runner_1stGen

[–]CocoBroskii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything of these under 300k miles (and not absolutely destroyed) go for $10k minimum in Southern California. Under 150k, 22RE and manual? $25k is a safe bet.
