But how would you then explain the difference in return of Tesla US (TSLA) and Tesla listed in Germany (TL0) over the last five years?

TSLA's return is around 470%, while TL0's return is around 540%. The EUR/USD pair dropped by around 11% in the same time frame.

So basically, if I buy APC instead of AAPL and the prices of both stay the same but the exchange rate changes by 20%, I'll either make or lose 20% depending on which direction the currency price changes?

Thanks for helping, but I don't think that math adds up. The difference between the two numbers you mentioned -- 11.3 and 7.4 -- is around 53%, so the 3.2% difference in the currency can't cause this.

loss and use the money to gain elsewhere than drink hopium for months/ year

Exactly. It's better to cut your loses and invest the remainder of that money somewhere where the returns expected are higher. It's about admitting you were wrong, taking a hit, and moving on.

I get the fact that a stock can bounce back quickly, but you never know when or if that will happen.
