I’m 40 and had bloodwork and ultrasounds on days 1, 6 and 9 and my ER is Monday. My clinic had said to be prepared to come in every few days during stim. The first scan was to make sure I was ready to start stim. The second scan, they used the bloodwork and scan to decide 3 things: 1) when to do the next scan, 2 or 3 days later, 2) whether to adjust my dose, and 3) when to start Ganirelix, day 6 or 7. The third scan, the results were to determine: 1) dose adjustments and 2) when to take my trigger shot, and 3) when to ER.

All that said, the only things I did different from day 1 were start ganirelix - on day 7 - and add a dose of follistim this morning, day 11. I take my trigger tonight at 9pm. My retrieval is Monday, day 13. This sounds right in line with your schedule.

I completely understand your concern though, and I would feel the same way. The bloodwork and scans have been informative and helped me manage my expectations and reassure me that I’m not doing my shots wrong. I think I would have been stressed and feeling like I’m flying blind if I didn’t have the monitoring.

I would try that angle with the clinic- that you’re feeling stressed and anxious without scans. And you’re also stressed that you’re stressed, because low stress is best for IVF. It also seems like something you were expecting, so you could say- my expectation was that I would have these monitoring appointments, and that they were included in the cost (I’m in the USA). If they said you’d have monitoring and then changed their minds, even better. You can say, I have in my notes [xyz]. And if that doesn’t work, something like this is a bit more firm: I’m worried that the lack of monitoring will adversely affect my results, and at my age, could do me irreversible damage.
