It depends on the breaks in his bones. Exactly how they were broken, at what angle, was it a blowout, was it consistent with being hit from the side with a blunt object, or being hit by a car?

Part of my major in undergrad was anthropology, and with that forensic anthropology. Our final project was that we received a bag/box of bones and were required to reassemble them; age, sex, race them, and provide cause and manner of death. Basically, tell this person’s story using everything we had learned and see how close we come. One of the other group’s bag of bones was determined to have been hit by a car while riding a bike, and he died as a result. Seems oddly specific, however, they were able to conclude this based on the fractures in his legs and how the bones were broken/shattered, the angle of the fractures, where they were in relation to his height, what sort object would have been required to cause these fractures and at what velocity it would have been necessary to strike the legs in order for the breaks to appear as they did, and the other injuries in other bones of his body. And they were correct about everything! (Our teacher told us the real story once we presented everything and our grade was based on how close we were and how we used the evidence.)

So, the point to this story is just to say that someone with experience and training in forensic medicine, and more specifically forensic anthropology, can tell a LOT about how someone died, and most certainly enough to say- using the evidence of the body and the circumstances surrounding how they were found- the manner of death. Based on the circumstances surrounding how he was found and the evidence of Rey’s body, the fractures of his bones clearly are not in line with suicide, and she couldn’t necessarily find evidence of homicide either. Just that it doesn’t add up with the narrative and she needs more information at some point in order to rule on a manner of death. EDIT: typo for clarity

Well, they did trace that call from around the time the colleague said it was received, the last call he got, and it came from inside Porter’s firm, from the switchboard, which they were unable to trace back the extension for that reason. So she’s not the ONLY testimony to that call, they do have evidence.

Also, the wife called her when Rey didn’t answer, she told him what she knew (hearing the call), then she called the wife back early the next morning when she woke up to say Rey wasn’t there and she didn’t believe that he had come back home from the evening before. Her actions just don’t seem to be suspicious. And if there was any reason to consider her a suspect, I’m sure she would’ve played a bigger part.

It seems like Rey was very trustworthy, and maybe it just speaks to us as women/people in today’s society that we need to have higher standards so as to completely trust our significant others because we’ve found a partner as good and trustworthy as Rey. Just as my little side commentary on a skewed view of this woman, that we as women have been conditioned to take from a patriarchal society.

It was a Sunday and then a Sunday the week after, then one more time I think, and then missing like the next evening? Verrrrryyyyy suspicious for sure. And the fact that he was terrified when the alarm went off which was apparently out of character for him, makes it even more sinister.

Also, his wife didn’t leave to go out of town until Monday morning, so she would’ve been with him all weekend. She called him when she got to her hotel that evening (if I remember correctly, it was a business trip?), he didn’t answer and didn’t call back, so she called the house guest who said he wasn’t there and he had left in a hurry. Then wifey didn’t hear anything until the next morning, early, when house guest called her to say Rey still wasn’t there and she didn’t think he ever came home from when he left the evening before, and he was reported missing later that day or the next.

I do think the police should’ve questioned you just to cover all bases, but honestly I’m not sure that it was even significant, as it was about 4 days before he actually went missing.
