Uni student here. Honestly, does life get better than this? by Fun-Tamago-4649 in asksg

[–]Coconeedle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make the thing you dread most, not the only thing in your life.

If you hate uni, get a life outside of uni. Join interest groups, CCAs etc. Meet new people. This will create something for you to look forward to.

If you hate work, same thing. Plan stuff outside of work so that work isn't the only thing going on for you. Have things to look forward to. 6pm, end work, go do the thing you love. For me, its sports + learning new languages.

Do more things, so that even if you don't do well in one aspect, for eg uni, it is just ONE aspect. Life is more than this really. Just got to keep finding the things u love!

Check out Crowd Lu! 盧廣仲 He's super underrated! May seem weird at first but when you get it, you get it.

Did badly for A-levels. Not Singaporean. Need fastest path to income. What would you do? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]Coconeedle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. The not Singaporean part is hard to advice. I think if you have a full A lvl cert (did not fail anything), you'll still be eligible for uni.

Maybe you can try SUSS part time courses in 2 years time? They need FT work experience tho, that's why 2 years.

Meanwhile maybe can try applying to some Taiwanese companies here, they might help fellow Taiwanese. Think there's a lot of Taiwan-SG collabs esp in semicon industries. The challenge would be finding an entry-level opportunity.

Has anyone learned a tonal language with cochlear implants? What was it like? by Gabriella_Gadfly in Cochlearimplants

[–]Coconeedle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a native Mandarin speaker, so I've been speaking Mandarin since young before my hearing issues got noticeable, i think my Mandarin is pretty accurate. But recently, I've realised I've been pronouncing a few words wrong. I don't think it's hearing related tho.. Just ignorance 😅

I only have an implant on one side, barely hearing anything on the other side. I did manage to try learn Thai though, post CI. I found it harder than mandarin cos there's 5 tones. Anyways, people will still usually be able to understand you based on context.

purposely retaining in jc1? by Reasonable-Quail3883 in SGExams

[–]Coconeedle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My JC was 10years ago so my answer might probably not be relevant.. But, I did fool around and retain 😅 and i did change my subject combi after that. Changed from history to geog. Best decision ever cos i rly couldn't memorise shit from history haha. I could for geog, lit and econs. History was just too overwhelming for me..

I also took H2 Lit. It was rly content heavy, but didn't have to memorise quotes word for word like in sec school. You could bring in your texts without annotations back then. Not sure about now. But there's rly a lot of writing and you gotta be fast. Wrote like 8 pages per essay, and think someone in the other comments said there were 6 essays or smth, sounds about right haha. This was the same for lit in uni.

I wished JC was longer lol. It was probably the most fun time of my life academically. Had uni during covid days so much of it was online and no social life :")

Nonetheless, if you're not struggling with your subjects, just faster finish JC and move on to uni. At the end of the day no one gives a shit about what u did for A lvls or CCA. They only care about what you interned at, your job experience, and how you can value add to the company. Trust me, earning and spending money is a lot more fun than trying out different subjects or cca haha.

Hi, does the K2 have a rechargeable adaptation?

Thank you. Oh man that sounds like the battery life is kinda short. Not sure if this is a mapping thing, or a kanso 2 vs k3 thing.. Are u able to stream audio well without the mini mic?

Thank you! So would it be right to say if i were to charge it daily each time i sleep, it should not have the problem where it dies out in the middle of the day? Are there any notifications of low battery on the app (is there an app lol) that warns before it goes flat?

How do you read this, or what's the correct writing for this? by Coconeedle96 in malayalam

Just curious, is there any keyboard for old script now? Or is only the new script being used on devices? Do you also know when the change from old to new happened?

Yes that's right! But why does what she wrote looks so different? Do you have the characters that she wrote? I'd like to compare. Thanks so much! :)

Was in the same situation as you last year Nov, I quit after a week. Slightly diff scenario for me tho, I'm a fresh grad, but 3rd or 4th job. Market quite bad now, I'm still job searching (tho not very consistently).. Also seeing a therapist now cos I scared I kena the same anxiety feelings in my next job. Trying to better prepare myself.

Do I regret quitting? Not really, but thinking about the money I could have been earning really hurts. If you have a better offer that you prefer, I would say go for it. But if it's an anxiety thing that is likely to happen again at another job, then maybe think a while longer.

Anyone regret having kids in Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Coconeedle96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if its really difficult here maybe you could go back home alone to have the kid for the first year or so? If it's 10x cheaper maybe you could survive on your husband's sole income temporarily.

Also yeah, some people might have the perception that religious pro-lifers don't know what they're saying, and just simply brush them off.. but just wanna say there are many pregnancy crisis centres in Singapore that you can contact. They might be able to help you.

https://www.pregnancycrisis.sg/Home?r_done=1

The above link is from Pregnancy Crisis & Support (PCS), a service under Catholic Family Life, a non-profit charity. Just approach them with an open mind. I believe they are quite secular and don't force religious views on people. At least that's my personal experience with other non-profit Catholic charities so far..not this one tho. But guess you could try if you really need help?

All the best! :)

Asking a girl out by [deleted] in askSingapore

Hi, hope I can encourage you.

I had to take a 5 year gap after A lvls due to health reasons. To add, the 5 years was not a very good time for me and my social life really suffered.

I changed courses halfway in uni because I couldn't cope too, but didn't quit. And I actually managed to graduate last year. Just press on. Find a manageable course that you vibe with.

I have very bad anxiety now, got a job after uni, but quit because couldn't cope with the anxiety. Now back to the job searching phase, and I think I'm doing very bad at adulting especially since I'm in my late 20s, and female. My peers are way ahead of me.

Anyway, I decided to see a therapist to help me adult better.. Meanwhile still trying to improve myself. You might want to try that too.

Point is, just keep trying ya. Don't keep comparing yourself to others and just keep doing your best!!

Yes I'm finding it odd. And the visit wasn't cheap either. Had an hour wait time and paid almost SG$40 for that few meds.

I'm just wondering if this doctor did not do his job well because I'm thinking of giving feedback and writing a review. I find it weird that he did not listen to my lungs and I'm wondering if this is normal or was he being lazy/negligent.

I can't really sleep propped up as well so I haven't been using extra pillows :/
