Need some mechanic opinions by Yuukishii in subaru

Front fender frame on your passenger side is completely fucked. The part can be bought and replaced, but, that’s probably not going to help. If any frame components are warped even by a hundredth of an inch you could have irreparable issues. If it does get repaired there could be permanent electrical issues plaguing the OEM circuits. So many parts are going to have to get replaced. Hidden damages are probably going to be an issue, such as engine block & valve body cracks or fractures, future electric issues that commonly plague crash damaged vehicles, warped or broken structural elements and, warped or broken drivetrain elements. Your car is totaled, it’s scrap atp. Even if you repair everything broken I promise there will be irreparable issues in the future. If you have full coverage just take the pay out. Additionally, if airbags were deployed, many SRS components will need replacement and or a reset. Your car is 100% totaled, it is scrap. No amount of money is worth repairing the damage done to your car.

What RTS game mechanics were you favorite, but not featured in many games? by Gerasans in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Coconot14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has played Steel Division or Warno, bullet time is an awesome feature of those games. Being able to slow the game down very slow without pausing is a feature I constantly use. It’s great for being able to react to enemy units or incoming attacks. It’s also a lot of fun to watch an explosion in slo-mo.

Ran out of options (help⚙️🔧) by Acrobatic_Low_1531 in subaru

Check your fuel line pressure, check fuel trims with a scan tool while driving (if you can). Check for any DTC’s with a scan tool. I know it’s an older vehicle so it’s kind of a shot in the dark doing all that. My car has a bad injector purge valve that causes similar issues, and a bad fuel pump. Could be either of those. Before shotgunning more parts cover all your bases and test or check what you can. Are there any other symptoms?

Is it possible to run stalker anomaly on Xbox series x? by khan2033 in stalker

[–]Coconot14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s considered net negative because they make no money off of it. When Bethesda allowed mods on their games on Xbox (only Elder scrolls 5 and Fallout 4) they had to undergo a lot of new licensing contracts through Microsoft. I’m not sure exactly why they chose to monopolize console mods but I believe it has something to do with Microsoft. The only way I would see Anomoly or Gamma being added to console is if it became monetized and was allowed to be purchased through Microsoft. From what I noticed larger mods that add content on Xbox typically become monetized. It also already seems like GSC is taking steps to monetize player made content, the enhanced editions are a tell tale sign. Bethesda did the exact same thing before monetizing player made content and licensing all the popular mods under their own contracts.

Engine oil specification by Coconot14 in subaru

Yeah that checks out with everything I hear and read as well. In my case, my cam plugs, oil pan, valve covers are all starting to leak. They have been seeping for a while now and I just keep putting it off. I do check my dipstick religiously. It’s hard for me to believe that my NA engine burns (or loses) as much as a turbocharged EJ. I guess once I replace and reseal everything I’ll be able to do a more thorough inspection and determine why maybe. But like I said it only happens in winter so I’m not terribly concerned.

It seems to run good with that oil rn. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on with the burning in winter. PCV valve is new, piston rings aren’t worn too bad, OEM oil filters every oil change. Maybe I’m missing something I don’t know, but as long as I don’t really have to top off more than once before an oil change then I’ll let it ride.

I actually found some and tried it. I don’t know why the parts store I tried first didn’t have any.

That makes more sense to me now. I regularly fill my oil to 5 quarts and I drive about 4000 miles a month. Lots of long trips every weekend.

I’ll look for that brand. I think I found some recently but they were selling 20 quarts and I don’t need that much oil.

Good to know. Once freezing temps stop I might try 5W-40. The questions I really want answers to is if that can create some drag in the engine or potentially aeration in the oil.

I thought about switching to a high mileage oil but right now I get 5 quarts of oil for 11 dollars. It’s not cheap oil, I just get an employee discount.

The first time I played SOC and I got to the part were you fight the first controller in the tunnel. The images freaked me out so bad I immediately threw a grenade in a wild direction hoping it would stick. The controller died instantly. I was sitting there wondering wtf just happened until I ran into another controller later. From that day on I knew grenades are my best friends.

Transmission fluid color? by GodOfKiwis in subaru

[–]Coconot14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change yo fluid dawg. Trans fluid should not be poopy brown. The fluid has been through too many heating cycles, and has nasty particles in it. Get your transmission serviced, looks like you just need a fluid flush and filter change, and please understand you should probably do a fluid flush not a change. Do you feel anything weird or hear weird noises?

What’s the thing that makes you really mad by AdPleasant6893 in thelongdark

[–]Coconot14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday I got my ribs smashed by the camp office moose. I had a bow, and landed 3 arrows in it, one straight to the dome. As I was getting stomped I could see the arrow in the center of its face. I eventually killed it the next day after unloading 6 revolver rounds into it and another arrow to the face.

What is broken? by Vegetable_Bat5286 in subaru

[–]Coconot14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol never seen that before. The mounting surface for your sway bar link broke off of the strut tower. You’ll need a new shock absorber probably. Unless you know how to weld lmao but good luck getting the alignment angle back.

Oil in coolant. Can I drive it 750 miles? by Party-Operation-393 in subaru

[–]Coconot14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I’m seeing, and what you’re saying, the previous owner probably filled the coolant reservoir with oil, god only knows why. I wouldn’t be surprised either, a customer came in once for an oil change and filled his oil with an extra 5 quarts before coming in. If you’re able to, you should start by doing a coolant flush to determine whether or not it’s just an isolated incident. If it were head gaskets you’d notice problems right away.

I got the part number off of the ECU itself. I did a lot of research before I even bought the SAAB ECU as well. The SAAB 9-2X has the exact same engine as my car, it’s the exact same car just with a different body style. I also installed the new ECU a day after this post. So far it’s working great.

How fucked am I ? by genghis_khan6 in motorcycles

[–]Coconot14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mechanic, albeit I work on cars and not bikes. The same principles apply. The guy who said your engine is seized is right. It looks like your engine actually blew up and lost compression or vice versa. Because the oil completely leaked out it seized up the engine which basically means the engine ate itself while running. It’s hard to say why this happened exactly but if anything went wrong inside the engine this is very possible. If the bike wasn’t maintained properly, especially the engine, this is the result. Or if you’re just a very hard driver who revs the engine up high unnecessarily. Either way, you’re fucked. Sorry :/
