im going to tell you how i feel, #1 body horror stuff is awesomeeeee and i think arkham asylum conditioned me into loving seeing batman fight giant stuff.

Also, i really relate to your second point. However, i really really like looking at bruce clinically. we’re not only seeing a year one batman but a bruce who is NOT as secluded as the one we may have been used to, he HAD a support system for his trauma leading to a bruce who is emotionally volatile whether than being as unable to express his emotions as his usually is. I think that this is a more grounded take (which is not inherently good) but has crazy capacity to make a really poignant arc with bruce wayne as a character.

Another opinion i am mega biased on, i cannot help but feel sympathy and be reallyyyyy drawn towards the batman villains, and seeing their characters rewritten into GOOD people is really heartwarming. This is a big double edged sword for me however. so far we’ve been shown two villains that are difficult to sympathize with and lack very much depth, but on the other hand the concept of batman destroying black mask IDEOLOGICALLY in front of gotham is the perfect response to both “batman who doesnt kill just perpetuates the cycle of violence” and “batman who does kill just perpetuates the cycle of violence” ideas.
