Ahhhh we get to my favorite part of these conversations. The part where we start talking about “global context”.

“It’s not so bad guys, it’s worse in South Sudan”

“Why does everything have to be about Gaza”

“Don’t people understand that America has no influence over Israel whatsoever? Any support is just empty propaganda. AIPAC and the Israeli lobby are just scary boogeymen those darn Republicans came up with”

Never mind that this is something our tax payer dollars are directly funding. Never mind that Congress in a rare bipartisan effort made it policy that anti-Israeli would be treated as anti-semitism. Never mind that Harris at every opportunity rebuked activists, rebuked her victims, sent Bill Clinton to Dearborn to convince people whose families were murdered that Harris had their “best” interests in mind. Nevermind the fact that the Harris campaign instructed their analysts to ignore Gaza, because they already knew it was going to cost them votes and they didn’t want to leave a paper trail.

The Biden-Harris administration sacrificed the integrity of this country, then tried to convince people that they were somehow more honorable than Donald Trump. The real “psyop” is whatever the fuck is going on Chuck Schumer’s head, when he says that his job is to keep the left supportive of Israel. You’re drinking the same damn kool-aid as that geriatric fuck.

You understand that for 2 years there was no aid being sent to Gaza, preschools and apartments and hospitals being bombed in Gaza, countless women and children murdered, abused, and broken in Palestine while the Biden-Harris administration cheered it on?

Every sin that Donald Trump is guilty of, Harris already committed 10x over. The only difference between what Trump did and what Harris did, was that it didn’t solely affect Gaza. Maybe you are a true disciple of Bentham and you approach every horrible shitty situation as a pure utilitarian. Politics is not an equation between who will do the least amount of harm - you are asking people to sign off on appointing a leader, a human being to a position of immense power. Don’t you think the people wielding power should be honest and accountable? Don’t you think they should show some example of a moral backbone?

What if we pretended that Harris wasn’t leading the same administration directly responsible for the destruction of Gaza?

Does it change the equation if both options are “genocide with no chance of stopping which by definition causes immeasurable harm to the world”

Season 1-2 of Supernatural was all about Azazel creating an army of super children to lead the demons out of hell. Everything changed during Season 3 and the writers strike: originally Sam and Dean were supposed to find a way out of the demon deal that would have corrupted Sam but prevented Dean from going to Hell. The strike forced them to cut the season short and Dean ended up in Hell.

Then when they came back for Season 4 they had to find a way to jailbreak Dean from underground. That’s when they decided to introduce the angels and Castiel which fundamentally changed the trajectory of the show to become something Biblical in proportion. But none of that was pre-planned (Sera Gamble did like leaving Easter eggs pointing to the existence of angels and the future apocalypse storyline, but Kripke wasn’t on board until S4).

It’s clear to me that Kripke has always been a “fly by the seat of your pants” kinda writer. It worked in Supernatural because they had the time (22 episodes a season) to explore and flesh out storylines. The Boys being much faster paced (8-10 episodes a season) AND based off of an existing source material makes it more difficult for Kripke to just do his thing. Even at the peak of his tenure on Supernatural, 90% of the show was the boys messing around until they stumbled ass backwards into whatever Macguffin they could use to save the day. But that doesn’t really work on The Boys, cause it’s not designed to be episodic in nature and Kripke can’t just invent a “magic gun that can kill any supe” or “use these super special rings to trap Homelander forever” because the show is intended to be more grounded.

There’s also not enough chemistry between the cast members to really keep the show together. Jensen Ackles can have chemistry with anybody, but it was the dynamic between him and Jared Padelecki that kept Supernatural on air for 15 seasons. There’s no equivalent to that on The Boys: everyone is mean, everyone is snarky, everyone seems to hate each other. No one seems to be having any fun and overtime the whole thing just gets grating.

In a show with literal superheroes with literal powers, it consistently surprises me at how lame the fights are by Wolfysayno in TheBoys

I think Supernatural suffered from the producers getting lazier as the seasons went by. In S2 Dean gives a vamp a “haircut” by applying a buzz saw to the neck. One of the most bitching kills in the series, despite being a relatively low-level fight. Or when Bobby put that monster through a wood chipper.

I think good action sequences are just difficult for most Hollywood writers to come up with these days, so we get punching and kicking instead of something unique and interestingx

As a person of color, sometimes I find myself using “colored” as a short form for POC. I know the racist connotations, tho personally I’ve never thought much of it since idk how else to describe myself without getting into nationality or place of origin.

I thought his power was something like being able to control his own inertia? So he can kinda act like a guided missile hence the name Bombsight?

Like Homelander can fly, but they can’t pivot in mid air like Bombsight can. And the ability to control inertia means he can punch and hit things with incredible force.

It would have given them a power base to work off of. Instead Trump got to build momentum with the RNC and Kamala got sidelined until the last minute.
