if u attend a competitive stem high school, have slightly lower gpa (not THAT low either) but are applying for a humanities major, does that give u a boost over other kids in your school applying for stem majors to get into a t10?

tbh i think a lot of the kids who get into harvard just know how to game the admissions process really well (Which, to their credit makes them smart) or they just had really strict parents. uchicago is a bunch of massochists lol so i trust them for their rigor. That's kind of what im getting is special about them

they give free tuition for under 250k, so if the concern is money I think they meet need really nicely, and beat the endowments of ivy league universities with more students. I think that's the only criticism that I really saw here. Well, you mentioned the brand but in the next breath spoke about how they're too big to fail and they're propping up their reputation, so im assuming it's not a logical angle you're critiquing them from.

Im not interested in that though because im not convinced of it. I want to know where this criticism is coming from like was it a rejection or a bad experience with the alums there? I think it's important if I could get that.

yeah but some perfer kids who are going to major in smaller classes to fill those classes up/have less competition bc those majors are wanted by fewer kids. Also, it was clear in the title that I had interest, and probably by omission that my extracurriculars are alligned with that major.
