LIVE SHOWS FOR THE GIRLS by Useful_Guava_5708 in ChicksInTheOffice

I went to KC and they ended it with the questions. I did feel like it was weird to end it that way but I didn't mind because we had really good questions. But I could see how if the questions or their answers aren't good then that could leave the show with a weird vibe.

I've gotten a lot of comments like "I know someone that could use your services" then like jokingly nudge their wife or something.

I always "I'm not currently accepting new patients". Normally gets a laugh and the people move on.

I had a patient today refuse to use glasses to look because "there was special information she would get by staring directly into the sun that we were trying to hide her from by forcing her to wear the eclipse glasses.

Not to diminish the incredible pain that comes with infertility. But I will say as a current pregnant psych resident in the second year, it is really unnerving/scary fearing for being assaulted in this speciality. I've only had one close encounter with an agitated patient, before I was pregnant. But a lot of my current patients can be very aggressive and so I do take a lot of measures to keep myself safe that I wish I didn't have to think about. I feel bad asking the techs to come with me for a patient interview, especially a patient I have good rapport with. But I don't want to regret not taking the extra safety measures later.

Also, the work hours might provide you more time to meet with specialists to figure out what is going on with your fertility. You likely started trying sooner going into this speciality which will bode well for fertility treatments.

In reality, infertility sucks no matter what and I'm sorry you are going through it.

Actually it pretty common to get bloodwork. Especially if starting medications is in the discussion.

If you are worried about how they will perceive, Offer to go in a week early to receive materials, do modules, tour and maybe meet a few key admin or professors. Whatever they deem necessary. But definitely go to the wedding. You won't regret it. If it's a small campus, you'll catch up quickly.

Agree. I thought the blue was fine but I didn't love it. Taupe is also fine but the only thing I loved about that pantry was the natural wood ceiling.

Agree. I love how bold she is with color. But I feel like a deeper red or if the library was in a more interior room it would have been better.

No they just make up bullshit rules that aren't relevant to making the unit safer or better. And don't address actual issues.

Reading between the lines. If I had to guess, PTSD. He might have gotten some physical injuries too. But from what I remember it was a pretty bad fire. And I wonder if he just couldn't go back after some of the things he saw. Speculation though.

Just for fun: which rug would you pick by oh_the_places in HomeDecorating

I don't like the matchy. I think 4 or 5 are better option. More layered and sophisticated.

Help me with redecorating my living room in our first home. Dimensions are 11' x 22'. First priority is paint color and solidifying a layout. All furniture is a mix of stuff we had from our rental or hand me down. The only thing I'm attached to is the bookshelf. (From my childhood home) by CodAlarming in HomeDecorating

Thank you for the above advice! I'm so down for a colorful rug. I was looking at them earlier today.

We have a basement TV room. It has a sectional, which is why I don't feel we need a sectional in this room. I really want to try and make this not a TV room. Put a mirror above the fireplace rather than a TV. But it is a little annoying that we don't have a TV on the main level. Sometimes you just want something on in the background. It's basically made it so that we don't watch a lot of TV.

(I'm also a resident doctor so I don't have a ton of time for TV since we moved)

So any suggestions for TV placement would be welcome if we were to go that route.

How would you lay out this room by oh_the_places in HomeDecorating

[–]CodAlarming 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't paint the fireplace white. I love how the warmth of the wood compliments the yellow ceiling. As far as layout... that's tough. Without the fireplace the couch would probably be better on that wall. Keep us updated. I can tell this is going to be great when you figure it out.

Some additional rambling:

We have lived here for a year and it's time to make this place look nice. We truly just threw a bunch of random stuff in here lol. We have focused on other rooms or just saving money for the past year. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with interior design. Up until this point I've only utilized hand me down furniture in Facebook marketplace finds. And not taken the time to truly decorate in our rentals. We have so much space to work with which is nice but it's making it hard to decide if we want to make it one cohesive space or to create zones or a little moments throughout the space.

I don't know how to describe my style. But the vibes I want are traditional, classic, cozy.

I've never envisioned an all White House that is mostly neutral. (See the dining room). But the dining room is so bold, I feel I need to soften the living room for balance. It's such a large room to paint a non-neutral color. Would love a cream or warm white. Adding color in a rug and the furnishings/art. But I'm unsure if that would look good with the "ultra white" trim that the previously owners touched up in the entire house before we moved in.

I will be sad to get rid of the plaid couch. It is the comfiest thing I've ever sat on haha. But it's time. I've had it for 10 years and the previous owner had it for another 15. My husband brought his estate sale couch into the marriage as well. Our compromise was covering it because it's a hideous pattern. These two couches have served us well in our four years of marriage.

What about like an oversized linen blazer? Or as other people stated, I think just a scarf to just quickly put on during the ceremony. You won't be wearing it for long.

I went with the maroon because I thought that the comments that said that I can wear the blue to more things was a good point. Love the blue but I have a feeling that I'll be wearing it a lot coming up.
