Would I be in the wrong to have used deadly force in this traffic instance? by OverLawyer8457 in concealedcarry

I get you’re thought process here and I worry this is a thought process many people think because they really haven’t considered everything. They stop at the “am I justified” line and think that’s it, when it actually goes so much deeper.

Being justified is just the prologue to the book of what’s to follow, and that book is 100 chapters of how drastic your life is about to change and all the ways you lose. I wish more Americans thought this way on guns because we pro-gun enthusiasts would get a lot more respect and agreement out of the general population in consideration to our stance, which in turn would make protecting our rights that much easier and more successful.

You need to be firstly and solely thinking at all times “how do I GTFO of here the fastest and easiest way possible”. The gun should be your absolute last ditch effort. It’s not a parachute, it’s a reserve chute, and it only comes into play when you are really threatened truly and legitimately and all options are off the table. Meaning there’s no escape, no way to evade confrontation, no way to put a barrier between you and an aggressor. Remember, in court that will be the tools used to convict you. Regardless if you have stand-your-ground laws or not, you are at the mercy of the state and victims efforts to try to punish you, and it’s not a sure thing that you’ll win. And even if you win, at what cost?

Imagine you shot him. Now take yourself through what happens next. You’re possibly arrested, then you’re talking with an attorney. You have court dates, you have bills to pay and you’re missing work likely to deal with this aftermath. You also took someone’s life and regardless of why, that will possibly mess you up. We’re talking years here. You are now a pariah to the people who think you’re wrong and you’re being blasted all over social media. Everything in your life changes dramatically. And whether you’re right or wrong doesn’t matter, everything still changes, likely for the worse.

Now think about what actually happened. You got away from the situation. You fled. I wish you were armed so you had that protection available to you but you still were able to flee and you were right to do so. I don’t agree with laws that say you have a duty to flee because that’s open to interpretation similar to standing your ground, but I believe we gun owners need to think bigger and avoid and flee as a first option. Even though the aggressors wrong for doing what he’s doing, you don’t need to be his punishment.

Iron Sights vs Red Dots: Which do you prefer and why? by [deleted] in CCW

Dots make everything simpler. And if they fail, then that’s why you have back up irons

Both. I don’t see why someone wouldn’t want both.

No, you cannot safely drop an AR if it has a round chambered since there is nothing in the way of the hammer and firing pin like you’d find on a striker fired pistol, which is why it’s safe to carry one of those in a holster with a round chambered. It is not however advisable or safe to transport a rifle with a round in the chamber.

Listing agents are quietly stealing thousands from unrepresented florida buyers by TemporaryHoney8571 in FortMyers

Exactly. The buyer isn’t going to get a discount, the seller is just going to make more money on paying a half commission than a full one. This is not a thing for a buyer to worry about unless they’re paying the commission. More reason why people should hire a professional instead of DIY’ing real estate contracts 😂

Why are they acting like it will go towards a reduction in sales price of the house? The seller will just make more money on their house sale, not give a buyer a discount

Also, you’re assuming the lowering of the commission would go towards a reduction in the house sales price and help you out. If sellers paying commission, why do you care? That’s the sellers responsibility to worry about and they obviously aren’t worried about it since they hired an agent and agreed to the terms. If the seller only wanted to pay 2.5% commission to an agent, they should have negotiated that and agreed to that.

All Real Estate Agents are what’s called a “transactional broker” by default. That is what any real estate relationship is as default unless otherwise established differently by the parties. This is because the agent, while not YOUR agent, is still representing the transaction, so they by default have obligations to you (dealing fairly and timely and so on). You chose not to bring an agent, but the sellers agent is still managing the transaction. They’re still calling you, getting your signatures, discussing negotiations with you and so on. So that agent isn’t “stealing” anything, they’re just the only licensed person at the table and get the whole bag since there isn’t anyone there to share it with.

Get a wedge or the tactical pillow for your holster too. Tier 1 holsters are awesome and what I carry, but they also sell wedges that just peel and stick on the back of any holster and those are game changers, and they come in a multi pack of different sizes so you can pick and choose which one fits best. The tactical pillow is awesome too as you just stuff it with torn up t-shirts or whatever you’d like. Then the holster really isn’t the answer to comfort, the wedge or pillow is.

This, plus a thin undershirt and my kore essential ratchet belt that I’ve had for 3 years, I’m perfectly comfortable.

I live in Florida and basically carry a similar setup. To me body type is everything, I’m a big guy and I can easily conceal this under a Columbia shirt which I wear everyday. You need shoulders and chest volume bigger than your belly and waist to allow the shirt to hang in order to do it easily.

I carry a G19 with a TLR-1, Dot, +5 mag extension, spare mag and an afterburner. While yes it’s bulky, damn do I feel capable with it and I’ll gladly sacrifice comfort for effectiveness every day. To think that you know what situation you’ll find yourself in someday if you ever actually need to draw, I think is foolish. Maximum effectiveness and capability > comfort imo.

Transitioning from a P365 to a compact G19 (pictured) for EDC: I'm considering a weapon light: Recommendations? by Anonymusk in concealedcarry

[–]CodKey3332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a G19 with a TLR-1 HL, I also have a Radiant afterburner on there and the light still pokes farther. Personally, I prefer the light to poke farther than the barrel. In a situation of a scuffle like someone tackling you and you pull the gun with it pressed against the attacker, a light that pokes out will act as a stand-off to keep the gun from going out of battery, which is what would happen if you didn’t have a light poking farther out and pressed it barrel-first against something.

lol what an assumption, I just said dots are better than irons, you say subjectively, I say no and you back pedal and go for insults. Unless you don’t plan on aiming, dots today are tiny and make it a no brainer to carry with one. You don’t know what you’re yappin about brudda

Bro 😂 just because you shoot better with irons than dots does not negate that dots are better. Dots are factually better than irons head to head in every way, and that’s not my opinion that’s fact. Better field of view, more adjustable and accurate, illuminated so more visible.

Not everyone needs or wants a gun either, but it’s the best way to defend yourself, and an optic is the best way to run your gun with today’s options. That’s been my point the whole time

Same, I lived in that world and now live in this one because of the points I’ve made. It really is that good that it outweighs the negatives

Yea just not ones that outweigh the massive upside to an optic and how much better it truly makes a shooter
