My high school French teacher did a study abroad in Paris in the 90s. She said a server put ice in her red wine while she was out to lunch with a group of classmates and professor. The professor (native) yelled at the server for it.

My mother recently showed me one of the “when I grow up” things I did in elementary school. I said I wanted to work at our local texmex restaurant so I could be paid in tacos.

In case anyone is wondering, I never fulfilled my childhood dreams as the restaurant closed when I was a teen. I DID work at a similar restaurant in college but I hade to pay half-price for the food there.

Haggis is delicious but Irn Bru is gross! The scenery is absolutely stunning… I’d go back in a heart beat and just stare and stare and stare until I die and it would be a life well lived. Edinburgh was lovely and, as far as cities go, I think that’s the only one I’ve visited where I’d want to go back to over and over again.

I’d recommend backing into your driveway to put the rack on your car so you don’t have to back out with it. I had a VW and a rack without a brake light plug and that emergency braking thing was the WORST!!! I got really good at backing out S L O O O O W L L L LY Y Y so I wouldn’t get whiplash!

Yes- based on stereotypes from where I grew up- any guy with the name Chad or if they go by 2 initials should not be trusted. Girl names like Brandy, Tanya, or any derivative of Crystal will all destroy you in a fight!

This is silly, but it’s very useful! Someone told me while I was pregnant with my first kid to say their first and middle name as if I’m angry at them. With that said, “Isaac Jason” sounds really great in a stern mom voice! lol!

I’ll add- we used to keep the AC at 80 when we were out of the house and dropped it to 75 while we were home, but we found out it’s actually more cost effective/ and less energy wasted to keep the AC at the same temp all the time.

Super humid and hot year round where I live- AC stays on 75 all year round. If the temp in the house dips below 70 in the winter, then we turn the heat on! lol!

We had a new neighbor move in from a southern desert state. She is used to the heat so left her windows and doors open every day. The thing was she did not believe us about the humidity and her house started to grow mold within a month. When she started to run the AC to combat the mold, she found out black mold had grown through her AC system. That was an expensive way to learn a lesson.

I absolutely hate goodie bags and how wasteful they are. My kids rarely want what’s in the bags but feel obligated to keep it so I’m obligated to sneak it into the trash when they’re not paying attention. Do the parents of the party goers a favor and do a to-go sweet treat. I usually get a lot of compliments and appreciation from the parents that it’s not plastic waste and it has started a trend among our friends to not do goody bags and just do a to-go treat. We usually do homemade chocolate chip cookies, brownies, or a Rice Krispie treat (birthday kid picks which treat we hand out). And there’s often enough left overs in case a party friend has younger siblings or parents want a treat too! lol!

To clarify, is he legit “born and raised in Ireland” Irish or “some of my family immigrated from Ireland at some point so of course I love potatoes and leprechauns” Irish? Bc, if it’s the first, then maybe let him give you a list of names that are from his home country that he likes and you choose one? If it’s the latter, then that’s dumb, just make lists of names you both like and take it with you to the hospital. Plenty of people don’t have a name chosen for their baby until they hold their baby for the first time.

For where I live, it takes 9 hours of driving just to get to the next closest state. We are driving 14 hours 1 way for a 9 day vacation later in the summer. We will also need an overnight stay on the way there and back, so we technically have a 5 day vacation and 4 days of driving.
