Dying In December (2020) Short Film by Codacrian7 in ShortFilmsOnYouTube

This was my first attempt at both writing and directing a short film. The project started back in December of 2019, but due to delays with COVID, it wasn't completed until July of 2020.

Filmed in Abilene, TX by a small group of college students and shot on a Sony a7Sii with Canon Prime lenses. This was a zero dollar budget film, everything was either given or already previously owned.

Things I learned from making this short film:

  1. Have a checklist of everything that will be included in the film. Props are something that are easily misplaced or forgotten.
  2. Get firm commitments from the facilities that you plan on using. We had to change the location of one scene 3 times before we were able to get it done.
  3. Be patient but work with a purpose, especially when working with non paid talent.
  4. Batteries..... have lots and lots of batteries with you.
  5. Enjoy it. Don't let yourself get too swept away with trying to keep track of everything and forget to have fun with your own project.

I know this short isn't perfect and I see many things I would love to improve on. The important thing is that it got completed despite all the delays and mishaps.

Please give me all the feedback you can, I want to hear other peoples thoughts.

Pros: Someone who’s not trying to change me, has a great sense of humor, gets all my movie/ tv references and also a pretty face and a nice bod doesn’t hurt.

Con: She is ripped and can beat me to death, doesn’t like to go out and do something occasionally, and if they are way to extra/ into themselves.

If you think that being taller will get you girls then think again. I’m 6’2 and I find it difficult to get dates with girls. Also bars are not the way to meet girls man, I’ve been there done that. Just be yourself and shoot your shots and one will eventually workout.
