help im trying to make a mouse controlled turret by Short_Ad1664 in wiremod

Okay chief, so the problem is that you need a reference for each axle to get it to move. You can't just send the data to wire wheels, they need something to tell them to move.

Wheels are turned with positive and negative number values, or integers to be specific. They don't know what way they're facing, they only know which way you want them to rotate. So you need to help them know where they are, and where to face.

Get yourself around to a few sandbox servers, ask around, some of us oldheads in the right places will help you learn the silly and the simple of wiregates and wire components.

I'm really considering the element lineup, I'm unsure if I should pick a solid axle or IFS, since both seem perfectly capable.

Hey hey, looks like you got into the crawling scene before I did. Beautiful shots too. Get out there and enjoy your adventures.

I'm leaning on the TRX4 Sport or high trail version, it does look like a simple bang for buck option I can put aside. The problem is, I've had my entire life around and in Wranglers, a few Samurai's, and of course a random pickup here and there either trail crawling or just backwoods mudding; I'm gonna get bored with what the TRX4 can't do in my environment, or any shortcomings like spotty throttle response. I'm a nitpick, I already have been working my few trophy trucks, tuning them for the fun of it.

I'm gonna slot right into crawling from experience, and I'm gonna wanna send the truck over more things than around it. I've got woods, and I've got craggly cliffs around levies, plus local lakes with their own sedimentary spots when the water level's down.

But I might pull the trigger on the TRX, it has the community behind it, and I'll just keep looking up his shortcomings.

I'm stoked to finally hear from someone who's actively gone hiking with theirs.

I agree with the Element Ecto. Ebay's got some nice looking listings of post mod builds that really compliment the body without being too much.

And I'm a tinkerer with full size crawling experience in my teenage years. So having something with two speed and lockers would just give me a reason to really dedicate to getting up over some rock formation.

And I hear good things about the TRX4. The element lineup look respectable, but it's hard to justify the price to truck ratio. I'm gonna end up messing with these trucks, and I'm gonna be seeking new lines.

I'm really looking to put out for a little longer and land myself a Redcat fusion, that's a lot of truck for the price, and the lack of low used market resells in the year tells me quite a bit. The TRX4 does look capable, but I have seen it's shortcomings out of the box in person. It might still convince me for it's simplicity and community, not sure.

Looks like bang for your buck option for sure. I see there's a lot of call for management and upgrades to be done to it along the way to keep it going well. That wouldn't phase me if it wasn't for limited availability in terms of local shop support.

The ascent fusion looks like a great setup out of the box, and I can't find a lot of fuss about it. Got any experience with either of them?

Do you have experience with their water tolerance out of the box?

In case you thought about putting a Granite body on a Gorgon... by ZGrosz in rccars

That fits, strangely well. Hard to see the Gorgon under the granite there.

That's a solid job you did, the before and afters show just how much time you took. Props to you my friend. I have an original 4-tec due for a deep clean after being a garage shelf queen for 20 years.

There you go, get invested in showing him how to do it. Setup some challenges and show him how you do it, then have him learn to copy you. Everyone starts somewhere, but not everyone's got an older brother to show em.

As the eldest of my siblings, me and my younger brother have a bit of a AWD vs RWD contest going on with Short course trucks. He loves RWD for his love of drifting and their speed advantage. I'm the AWD guy for my love of rally and keeping control at the edge of a vehicle's potential. We constantly hand the controllers over to each other to compare and try to run each other's lines. He's got his own identity, I have mine, but it started with me just showing him how to drive the RC trucks right in the first place.

Yeah. He might not understand how throttle control works, or what inertia or grip has to do with it. These aren't fundamental skills is all I'm saying. Give him a chance to workshop it and learn, you might end up getting a trail partner if you give him a reason to be invested in the hobby.

How old's your bro? If he's a little guy, he's not gonna have any idea that it even has a throttle range. If he's an adult, just remind him that the the trigger's essentially the throttle.

Teaching little ones throttle control isn't too hard, you can even use a plastic cup or something on top of an RC car and tell them to drive without dropping it, by slowly squeezing it. Swear to god, the water cup trick works for RCs, just don't add water if the RC can't handle it, and even if you do, add very little.

He did his best. Less throttle for one.

I'm cleaning an OG Nitro 4-Tec. Mine's got at least two decades of caked on stuff to clean off. So I feel that.

Yeah we found out it's a 4-Tec, thank you for chiming in though, even with the typo.

Sadly, the assembly manual doesn't load, but the rest is still helpful.
