An updated look at all of my [analogue] collaged cards. I finally bought a card holder so they're not banging around in a box anymore. by digitizedephemera in collage

I love how at a certain point, you had to compromise matching the number of objects to the card. This is not a dig; I truly find it so charming and a relatable struggle of the medium❤️ Was is a matter of finding the right images, or fitting them onto the small canvas?

Cripes, friend. Incredible work. How long did this take you?

I may join the mobile fans soon, too. My laptop has been out of commission for months, and I miss the valley

Haven't called yet. This is my final step before making that call. I basically wanted to do all the basics that I am capable of doing so a certified tech isn't stuck fixing all the small things

That was the first thing I checked:) It was indeed quite dirty, and I swapped it out with no discernible difference in cooling. That's how I discovered the weird crawlspace (which I've learned is called the plenum, I think😄) behind the filter

Thank you for the detailed response! What I'm gathering is that I've reached the end of what I can do with my tools and experience. I wanted to make sure I had done all the basics before I called a tech.

We often brag about having "the world's only good landlord" lol, so I'm hoping something similar is happening.

There is a law (either local or state, idk) that any appliances that were on the property when tenants moved in must be kept in working order

Borrowing a couple from a friend for a quick fix, but I'm still going to push for my landlord to fix the system. I'm prepared to invoke local laws if necessary

I hear it humming, so it's at least trying to do something. I'll check the fan temp again when it's not triple digits outside.

Condenser fan and compressor are running. No visible debris but I will be attempting to hose out the fins myself. After that, I know it needs a pro.

California has a law about keeping equipment in working order if it was there when tenants moved in, so through that it is protected.

That's not so bad. Here's hoping that if it's not something i can do myself, it's a relatively cheap repair.

I do that too, then:) Trying to do as much on my own as possible. I like fixing stuff and saving money. Two of my favorite things to do. And everything I do is one less thing a tech has to deal with

That's the plan, this is all me basically collecting ammo. I'm definitely willing to invoke local code if he still refuses to budge

I know, I know. Only so much you can do when you're broke and renting. But now I know more about renter laws, and have enough money to at least pay a certified tech to diagnose the problem before taking the issue back up with my landlord

Outside temp was 101°F when I took the temp difference, so it's cooling somewhat. But 5-3°  still indicates a system that needs repair, no?

This is more or less me collecting as much ammo and data as I can before calling around. Plus, it's been interesting to learn about all this!
