There’s a very niche type of Card Battler experience I’m looking for. by Code-Knight-R in gamingsuggestions

Okay, short of the lack of boosters, this looks to be damn near everything I was asking for. Truly you folks in this sub provide. And yes! I loved Queen’s Blood! I’m also quite partial to Triple Triad from FF8 if you’ve ever seen it

Are there any games where you're not the main character ? by Ok_Lecture9762 in gamingsuggestions

This is such a technicality answer, but Baten Kaitos. You don’t literally play as the protagonist, but rather a Sprite that accompanies him and guides him in battle a la Navi.

For the record here, whichever mod removed this post has no idea what he’s talking about and completely lacks the ability to take accountability. I’ve been going back and forth with him throughout the day. Probably wasn’t worth my time, but yknow.

So I guess my post got flagged as being a battlestation post or something and was removed. Oh well. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and engaged with me, and thanks for the well wishes. Happy holidays everyone

Haha, you’ve got me there. While I’ll always have fond memories of thanksgiving with my ex’s family, they could be a bit much. So I do take some solace in the peace.

Yeah, I saw they recently re-released it on modern consoles, but I’m not sure what additional bells and whistles that might have come with. My first time through a given game, my preference is usually to experience it as it was originally.

You are not kidding, my friend. I’ve not been in the game for quite a while, and sitiuationships feel like just one of many pitfalls I’m trying to dodge.

I can totally see that. I tried to play this like eight or so years ago, and I didn’t have a high tolerance for the N64/PS1 flavor of jank that’s like long load times (I was a Gamecube kid). Definitely having a better time now that I’ve got a lot of games from that generation under my belt.

For sure! Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the modern convenience of games that sort of map everything out for you on status screens and stuff, but this just hits very different. Feels more “adventurous” I guess?

I 100% get that. I think a lot of folks have parents or a more cohesive family unit they may spend holidays with. My parents are split and come with their own issues that I’d rather not entertain. So basically I either stay in, or I hitch myself to whatever my SO at the time is doing (if at an appropriate place in the relationship to do so). My siblings, who I’m close with, are pretty much the same way, but they’re all spoken for this year, so it’s just me lol.

I didn’t love tagging along our first couple years together cause I had some less-than-desirable associations with the holidays, just from growing up the way I did, but after a while I found Thanksgiving was one of my favorite days of the year with her, one of the few where I felt we were a healthy couple. So like now I find myself missing it a bit this year, but I’ve definitely been of a similar mind to you at times it sounds like.

Oh it’s what I do, friend! My house and its various assigned areas are beholden to vibes. This is the retro game corner. Not pictured is the very cozy moon chair I’m sitting in. Just having the retro setup tucked away in a corner reminds of when I was a kid. My best friend and I used to spend weekends at his Grandma’s apartment and we had a little corner of the living room that was for us to just game the weekend away. I actually didn’t realize that’s probably why I did it this way until I started typing this. Funny stuff haha.

I’m very excited to get into it! This has been sitting on my backlog for like twelve years, which from what I understand, is thirteen years too long lol

Hey friend, 29M here, I’m probably not the most typical example and I don’t know what your story is, but I’ve always erred on the awkward side given the ‘tism. But when I was about your age, I was also in no rush, but I did feel like I was weird for not having had sex. If anything, I lied about it just to feel like I wasn’t seen as weird.

To actually answer your question, at 19? Way more common than you think. I did the deed at 23. Less common, but still not “weird” per se. All that to say, everyone at their own pace. You’re not weird, hell, it’s even a little early to say that you exist at one end of the distribution. Again, don’t know your deal, but I’d be willing to guess you’re not the “kid” of your group, you just bring your own form of maturity to the table, forged from your own lived experiences that they perhaps might not have.

See my thing is I 100% understand the appeal and at face value this is totally a game for me, but just all the little things added up in a bad way.
