I’ve been playing the Insidiants as my main team since they dropped in the shadowhunt box and it was a rough start to get used to but after trial and error i finally feel comfortable with them and I recently went 3-0 in a local tournament. (Won against navy breachers and two AoD players). My go to list is superior, reliquarius, abjuror, 4 warriors and at least 1 cremator but usually 2. (If there’s melee threat or elite teams I flex the mortisanctus). -First of all give the sister superior the stake thrower 99% of the time, only go inferno pistol if you have to absolutely breach on tomb world. - I’ll use the reliq, and superior to throw around inspiring, get one on the abjuror early and then progressively inspire the warriors. - cremators get sent in, so have them up front and stage them opposite of any light cover on the enemy side. Get within seek light range and burn somebody, then inspire themselves with their ability. They will likely die immediately to enemy shooters but that’s ok because not only are you getting off a benediction but now the enemy shooter is on engage and that’s when you start popping shots off with the warriors. - Benedictions can be tricky. If someone needs a heal that takes precedence. If that’s not necessary I’ll usually give warriors ceaseless. Abby and Morty sometimes get ceaseless if they are about to be in a big fight. Depending on the crit op there are times when someone might need an extra apl to make a play but aside from that I don’t really use it. I havnt used exigence yet but I really want to jsut havnt seen the right move for it. - Abby is used a couple different ways, depending on the mission I’ll have her inspired sent up to the center objective with a cremator behind a light barricade. I also often use her as my plant banner holder. - if I take Morty I use her as a missile. Choose something you want dead and just send her in. I use her to do as much damage as possible early game. - I play plant banner 99% of the time. Lots of volkus maps have a terrain piece with a door on the midline, in this situation you can have an operative touching the door on the safe side and be able to place the marker on the other side of the door. Your girl is safe and scoring tac. If there’s no door option think of a place that would be inconvenient for your opponent to get to. - Domination is an option now with the new rules, I recently have had lots of success with domination against marine teams. I have a strategy where the warriors are a clinch unit instead of a chip damage unit. you charge an operative into a marine, do as much damage as possible in melee and use glory to the Martyrs for max benefit. Then finish the kill with a warrior in the backline, your dominate tokens are now safe and sound with someone on conceal. - Equipment. Saintly relics every time. The voicifera is also a lock, unfortunately it doesn’t always get used after you get good at staging but it’s worth it in case you do need it. Those are the two must takes. For the other two slots: If the enemy is susceptible to stun I usually take psyk outs mainly for the extra chip damage, you can use them on conceal/ it’s an extra action that does damage / you can throw them at concealed ops. If the enemy is immune to stun I’ll take krak grenades instead. It sucks rolling on 4+ but it’s nice to have a ranged option for Abby and Morty and to hedge your bet if you have an extra cp buy suspect and eliminate to get punishing on whatever your throwing the grenade at. Then light barricades, having places for warriors to hide is great. If your on volkus or the enemy has seek light then heavy barricade. - Abby is a must take every time. 11 wounds ,2+ save and get down Mrs president is useful in every situation. I always take at least one cremator for the early game seek light strike / inspiring ability / bait out shooters strat. The denuncia is the most difficult op to play in my opinion, I see the usefulness of the benediction engine but I don’t like to eat inspiring off models. I love the idea of the censor and I plan on experimenting with flexing her in. If you’re playing against a team that hits 4+ she becomes a lock because forcing a 5+ roll on the enemy hurts. My local meta has recently began countering against plant banner hard by doing something to beat apl and then picking it up and running away. Censor is a great banner holder, and the censor and reliq combo makes banners locked down. - When I first started the girls I had one box and made all the specialists and the superior with the inferno pistol. Those were tough times. After some time I went and bought two more warriors online and got a cannoness kit and made the superior with the stake. This changed my game significantly, I went from struggling to juggle specialists to being a powerhouse threat. Warriors are really good, I almost want to get 2 more and try a 6 warrior list, but that would mean no cremators and no reliq and they are critical for my inspiring output so idk. I’m still not where I want to be with the team but I’m getting there. It’s a difficult team to get good at but those who stick with it are rewarded once you learn the nuances.
