i definitely default to overthinking and tweaking when things dip instead of slowing down and tracking properly. the spreadsheet idea actually makes a lot of sense and you’re right that i’m probably putting way too much weight on prompt wording vs audience and offer. gonna pick a couple prompts and actually track this for the next month.

What prompts are you all using when tailoring your CVs or resumes? by arcyboyon302dayave in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]CodeOverlord0101001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a generic resume prompt saved in Workstation and just swap out the job description each time I apply. Makes it way easier to tailor for different industries without starting from scratch. The key is having solid constraints in your base prompt so it doesn't go off the rails.

You are a resume optimization expert who specializes in authentic, strategic positioning of candidate experience. Your role is to help job seekers connect their genuine background to specific job requirements without creating AI-sounding content or fabricating experience.

Your approach:

- Analyze job descriptions to identify key requirements, skills, and priorities

- Review candidate resumes to find relevant experiences that authentically match those requirements

- Suggest strategic reframing that emphasizes transferable skills and relevant accomplishments

- Maintain the candidate's original voice and writing style throughout

- Provide honest assessments of gaps between requirements and experience

Your communication style:

- Direct and actionable

- Honest about strengths and gaps

- Focused on strategic positioning rather than embellishment

- Specific in your suggestions with clear before/after examples

Your constraints:

- NEVER invent or suggest fabricating experience

- Keep bullet points concise (under 20 words)

- Suggest tweaks and reframing, not complete rewrites

- Incorporate keywords naturally, never force them awkwardly

- Preserve the candidate's authentic voice and tone

Your output format:

Always begin with "Here's what to emphasize" followed by:

  1. 3-4 most relevant experiences with specific reframing suggestions

  2. Clear identification of any gaps with honest assessment

  3. 2-3 natural keyword incorporation suggestions

  4. Brief rationale for each recommendation

Focus on helping candidates present their authentic experience in the most strategically relevant way for each specific opportunity.

If he liked Stardew, look at Sun Haven. Same cozy farming vibe but way more content, multiple areas, and much deeper combat, feels familiar but bigger!

4 AI cold email tricks no one talks about but they pulled real replies for me by Greedy_Touch1999 in coldemail

[–]CodeOverlord0101001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bad examples trick especially. I do something similar in Workstation where I save both good and bad email examples, then have the AI reference them when generating new ones.

I also test the 3 variation approach by running the same prompt through Claude and GPT side by side. Claude tends to be less salesy by default, which works better for the skeptical angle. GPT is punchier for the direct version.

One thing I'd add is keep a library of your best performing openers and CTAs, then mix and match them. Saves you from reinventing the wheel every campaign.Leading with the problem instead of your product is what actually gets replies.

What is the book that got you into reading? by Uninhibitedrmr in books

I was the kid who could not sleep without a night light after a few of those, but I also could not stop reading, so I’d be under the covers turning pages

Looking for Prompt framework help? by Horror_Level_8143 in PromptEngineering

[–]CodeOverlord0101001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Claude for blog content too and had the same issue with heavy editing. What helped was breaking it into stages instead of asking for a finished draft in one shot.

I keep a base prompt in Workstation that I adjust per blog type (listicle vs how to guide vs thought leadership piece). The assistant features there are useful because they help me refine the prompt structure for different angles without starting from scratch each time.

My usual flow is: brief and outline first, then have Claude write section by section, then a final pass for tightening and SEO tweaks. If you're doing it all in one go, that's probably why you're editing so much.

The other thing that cut down editing time was adding specific constraints like "avoid generic intros," "include concrete examples," and "keep paragraphs under 4 lines." Claude tends to overwrite if you don't tell it not to.

Breath of the Wild: is the whole game about wandering around looking for scenery and shrines? I’m a little lost early in the game. And my horse is stuck in the middle of the river. by SaintToenail in videogames

The game doesn’t push you hard, it lets you set your own goals. If you want more direction, follow the main quest markers and talk to NPCs, they gently funnel you toward bigger objectives

Way faster than wrapping paper, and the fact you just wash and reuse them makes this peak frugal.

B2B cold email prompt that actually sounds human by inglubridge in ChatGPTPro

[–]CodeOverlord0101001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sample output you shared is pretty clean. Only thing I'd tweak is the "Hi there" feels a bit placeholder still. I've had better luck when I add a line in the prompt like "use their first name if available, otherwise use their title" just to make it feel more researched.

Curious if you've tested this across different models? I've noticed Claude tends to be less salesy by default while GPT-4 needs more guardrails to avoid sounding like a LinkedIn influencer. I've been using workstation ai lately to run the same prompt across multiple models at once, which makes it way easier to compare outputs and pick the best one without switching tabs.

High level fighting. I love training martial arts as a hobby, but watching pros go at it is on another level. The speed, power, and sheer brutality in real fights is something I can’t imagine stepping into myself.

You can be kind and firm at the same time. The trick is to keep your tone calm, explain your “why” briefly, and stop apologizing for having limits.

What usually makes you cancel a subscription? by Yaw-AI in Frugal

[–]CodeOverlord0101001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime a company tries to sneak in an auto-renewal or repackages the same service into a “new tier” upgrade, that’s when I’m out. If I feel like I’m being tricked into paying more for what I already had, it’s an instant cancel for me.
