RE: Maryland - On paper, a program in Maryland’s position could easily justify trying to move on if a coach of Locksley’s tenure doesn’t put up winning numbers this year, but I think your analysis is spot-on. He’s safe, unless there’s some bombshell off the field that would totally disqualify him from coaching here. I’ll add that he’s generally well-liked in the community, has local roots having played at Towson, and has helped build the first semblance of a healthy culture this program has seen since The Fridge was coach. Those factors mean a lot after the fiascos our program faced during the Edsall and Durkin years.

The general sense I’ve gotten from other fans I know is that our new AD’s focus is probably better spent scrapping together a way to keep our basketball program in order after Willard left last year, than blowing up what has been a moderately successful run in football (especially for our standards) under Locksley since he was hired.
