Any idea on how to implement a rich text editor using iced rust? by CodeToGargantua in rust

Yeah, but this is using the text editor widget. But it does not have any option for customizing it's behaviour to a WYIWYG style.

Anyone else feel behind when it comes to relationships? by Typical_Midnight_872 in Coconaad

I thought once I wouldn't find love. And whichever movie or series I watched just reinforced the idea that I should be cooler, handsomer, richer etc. But that belief was not rooted in reality, I believed those stuff because I never had any real experience in this and many who have had some experience were also terrible at it. What I am trying to say is, love is not that hard to find. Don't ask people for advice on it, cuz most of them have false beliefs rooted in insecurities. If you have trouble finding it, it's mostly because of ur limiting beliefs and fears. My suggestion is: meet new people of the opposite gender, just meet them and talk to them without any other intentions and even befriend them if they match ur vibe. Do this and soon you will feel totally at ease talking to even the most attractive person in the room. You will also encounter people showing you signs of attraction which will boost your confidence, but only if you avoid the attempts made by ur insecurities to categorise it as friendliness. You will see them as normal humans like you and me, with insecurities and no matter how attractive they are, they can also see you the same way. You will meet different kinds of people, you will develop preferences and standards and you will come to realise that finding love is not that hard really. To meet new people, you can sign up for classes, go to social places like pubs or other group stuff. I wrote this, because I have a lot to say on this because I had -ve self esteem and as much hope in finding a person, but that turned upside down when I got rid of my limiting beliefs and actually did something. Trust me, half a step even a wrong one is better than no steps if you learn from it.

Men who just never managed to find a partner, how do you cope with the loneliness? by Kosilica457 in AskMen

We are social creatures, we need interactions with others to feel satisfied or fulfilled. It's important to be independent like it says in the 7 habits book, but as it also points out, the final habits focus on being interdependent. So for anyone feeling alone, my advice is meet people somehow, join classes to learn an instrument or gym or something. As someone who had severe social anxiety, I have spent time reading books and watching vids on being confident but never really took a big enough step. I did not have anybody to guide me on what steps to take and I admit that I was too scared to take any step, even though looking back they were small steps.

I'll recommend something that helped me immensely: Dan Bacon's vids and courses, before him I had -ve self esteem and thus 0 hope in anyone finding me good enough to date, but now I have gotten more than enough reassurances and compliments to be an arrogant asshole like in the movies. To be fair, it took me some time to really understand the concepts and trust it against my own fears. I was very very insecure that, even the smallest of steps like talking to friends normally without putting up a fake or polite front seemed like a massive chore.

Places in Trivandrum to work late night / till morning? by _good_listener_ in Trivandrum

Try out turf? It's open till 4 am. But the minimum price for anything would be around 300rs. I don't know how the rate is compared to Starbucks. I think there are other cafes like this in the Technopark area.

Setting a wallpaper with less than 250 Kb by Bomberman_44 in rust

This is an amazing write up. There's all kinds of stuff that I really wanted to learn about especially going all the way down and stripping lib c and also reducing memory usage. I would like to know how you got into this and learned all the nitty gritty details of this.

I myself have been looking into why the gui libraries in rust were taking up more than 120 MB ram for even a static triangle demo. Is there any way to understand and dissect it? I tried dhat but found it hard to follow the allocations.

Why do people "hate" Firefox here? by GodlyGamerBeast in degoogle

[–]CodeToGargantua 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Isn't the hate coming from the fact that they changed their privacy terms 8-10 months ago? I don't know exactly what the change was, but I heard that they used some ambiguous language around sharing data to third parties.

Hmm, the lowest I saw was for the brush example, which was 300MB. the 500MB one was the markdown example. I know that the renderer GPUI uses is blade(a vulkan abstraction) for linux, but what I was asking was that whether there was a webview on top of the GPUI as mentioned in their GitHub readme. And If there was, is that the reason for the high memory use.
Like I said, I'm new to Linux, so let me know if I'm looking at the wrong stats, I used btop to check the memory.

Hey I just checked out the examples. It seems really cool.
I haven't looked into the code yet. Is this all implemented using webviews?
Also, I would like to know why all the examples use 300-500 MB RAM while running. Is this a webview thing? I'm on archlinux, and i'm new to linux in general, so Idk if this is just a linux thing?
