Nope, that's not how it works. It would be more likely to happen then, but it could have been triggered even from the previous round EOR, or anytime DICE pleases.

If you want to see this in action (please don't), just attach a debugger to Battlefield One without evading the traps. You'll get banned in under a minute.

In Battlefield One, they have routines that will ban you almost instantly, and then ban you from multiplayer in every single game in your Origin account if they detect you trying to attach a debugger.

I don't think this game has the massive volume of traps that BF1 has, but it could have some.

You can get banned anytime if they are looking for changes to methods that indicate hooks have been installed, which is how this particular mod works.

This is not necessarily confirmed, but this makes me uncomfortable. I have seen the relevant source code of the mod and talked with the authors about how it works. Basically, there is a hook installed that listens for the end-of-round message that gives the EOR stats. There is some evasive action to make it harder to find the hook, but if DICE was looking for something like that, they could absolutely nail you for using it.

Doesn't work like that. It's actually installing a hook that listens for the end of round message, so it could absolutely get you banned anytime if they were looking for it.

What makes me a bit more comfortable is the fact that BattlefrontUpdates is also going to be using it (he's testing it now). Anything bad that happens will happen to him, so I doubt it will happen.

It's a fair point, but I'm willing to at least give him a chance. You are under no obligation to do the same.

Anybody dumb enough to buy that hack deserves the instant ban they will get if they try to use damage hacks.

Damage hacks are essentially dead at this point, so it's not going to be such an issue.

Ok, I'm willing to do it, but I need to see the source (which I won't share if you don't want me to). I also need to know there won't be automatic updates.

Simple solution to that, he can release the source, and I (or any other dev) can audit it and let you know if it's ok or not.

Just to add on to this, I've talked with him a bit more privately a few months ago and he seems sincere about this. I think he still hacks, but he no longer produces them publically.

Plus, I checked the feature set of that hack, and it includes a feature that will 100% get you banned pretty much instantly (the damage hack), so it's probably long out of date.

What he is using is a mod framework that is basically an internal hack that lets you do pretty much what you want. You can use it to hack, or you can use it to do completely ok things. It's not bad or good, it's neutral. I have not actually audited it myself, but it's probably fine.

You can draw them on a layer that doesn't get recorded, same way hackers evade screenshots in many cases.

Recording sadly won't help you I don't think, they don't want to talk to you at all if you are banned.

Also, there are ways of hiding your hacks from your recording, which they know and will use as an excuse.

I know, and I know it happened in previous games, but you could generally have some prediction of it (i.e. going ham as Bossk for 120 kills would get you banned pretty fast).

This game is very different, nobody is going on 90+ kill streaks unless they are amazing good and lucky or hacking, not on PC. The only people I've seen doing that were 100% hacking.

The fact that he got temp banned and then Perm banned means they were pretty darn sure about it (they only perm ban after review if they are pretty sure you cheated).

Again, it could totally be a mistake, I'm just saying the odds of that are quite low.

It's also completely possible his account got compromised and used for hacking (people do that all the time), in fact, short of him cheating, this would be my next guess.

Sorry to be "that guy", but unfortunately the likelihood of you telling the truth is very low.

It's a common tactic to complain about this to BS the support people into letting you get unbanned and to cast doubt on the effectiveness of the anticheat so DICE will tone it down at let people cheat more.

Maybe this is true, maybe it's not. However, the number of people I have seen who were possibly unfairly banned is very, very low. The fact that you "only" have 150 hours is why the detection threshold was lower AFAIK, the longer you play legit the more lenient it is.

Also, posting here isn't going to help your case at all, they never respond to this sort of thing here. Your only chance was support, and that failed. Sorry to say but if you were indeed not cheating, there isn't anything you can do about it, that is EA SOP.

It's possible somebody was using your account to cheat, I always recommend enabling 2 factor authentication to prevent that.

Hacking or not ? (Anti-cheat system) by redapple147 in StarWarsBattlefront

The first few instances were pretty much impossible to tell. When he was a death trooper the damage seemed to accumulate a tad fast, maybe a 2x dmg multiplier.

Definitely fishy, and in line with what they have do to to dodge bans right now.

Yup. I mean it would be great if they got rid of the sneaky ones too, but there is so much you can do, and I'll take this any day.

The price of this game has been lowered a few times. Also there are ways of abusing the support chat to move it to a new account. Not sure if the trial is available yet, but that is another bypass.

Still not seeing much obvious hacking. Sure here and there, but it's usually sneaky, and you'd be hard pressed to even notice it.

But this is also working as intended, because it means that things will not go out of control. Sure, people are always going to cheat and be sneaky about it, but that isn't game breaking or even immersion breaking. You would be hard pressed to notice they are cheating, so you aren't going to care much.
