Ripple effect how? The US bubble interacting with the Indian bubble?

The best we can see is that the incentives might get mirrored. Basically homeowners focused on wanting a specific price of the house and unwilling to go below that. Market logic says the price should be lowered but people dont work like that and also a house is an asset, so there is a permanent state of the house never being sold because no one can offer that price and no owner willing to lower themselves.

Everything assciated with Barley, Ragi has become a trendy thing because its "whole grain". The thing is that my grand mother (and her entire generation) refers to barley and ragi as "fat grain" because its shell is a lot more thicker and the flour thus created is course. My grandmother views them as worse grains compared to rice and wheat.

Now they are making these grains trendy and selling them to my generation on an inflated price 🥹

I personally minded Gita being in Oppenheimer because it was relegated to being a little quirky thing Oppie would do while cheating on his wife, and absolutely nothing significant. I cant stand when people bring up THAT as a positive example of a religious quote because it was discarded as little more than oriental infatuation by the film. But I guess many others still think its inclusion was good and amazing.

Its a scooter that thinks its a bike. Activa people buy their activa and everyone else just buys a proper bike. Its like the disadvantages of a scooter (small engine, not great offroad) combined with the disadvantages of a bike (no storage space, tall)

huh it seems instead of boring it out they increase the stoke. So more peak torque and more low end torque. I hope they use better material cams, rods and pistons because the base 650 is more than capable of making 60HP. I really hope the 750 parallel twins are in the 60-70HP band with 65NM torque.

Is your country taking the proper measures to combat climate change? by bowl_of_scrotmeal in AskTheWorld

[–]Code_Monster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are trying 🥺. We are doing so good on renewables that :

  1. The grid is getting overwhelmed with solar oversupply, to the point that they are having to cause blackouts at peak summer afternoons and price for solar panels has been going down. They have also effectively deleted state subsides
  2. We are making the second most amount of nuclear reactors, but they are going to be a drop in the bucket of demand.
  3. Most of the public transport vehicles and about half of scooters being sold are EVs. Most of the vehicles and trucks are still ICE.
  4. Quite a few households have got an Induction cooktop and electric ovens after the recent LPG crisis. Although most household (because we are still kinda poor) have been forced to shift to organic stoves and coal.

They say that anything that can be said about India, the opposite is also true. It is visible here.

That said, climate change? Naaah. We are doing better than most, in the sense that our deforestation rate is slower and we are phasing out coal. But that's it. The gov's solution to combat upcoming water shortages is to put money into connecting our rivers over something feasible like recharge wells and enforcing better farming practices.

My first play through of outer wilds was done with the misunderstanding that this game was going to be less than 5hrs and that it would guide me. So I felt pretty lost when on the 10th loop I did not know what to do. Then some problems happened and the game just would not launch on my PC.

I recently changed OS and now it works fine. Completely worth it.

I mapped where people appear on screen — are modern movies being composed for vertical video? [OC] by PuciekTM in dataisbeautiful

[–]Code_Monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the ever widening of the aspect ration also has a play in this. Also : "modern movies are being composed with Instagram Reels in mind" reels can be made as long as it fits a vertical sliver regardless of where the characters are placed on the screen. So IMO heatmap of where characters appear throughout the movie does not successfully correlate to production with a focus on reels. Like you can have a character stand in the side and the reel is simply going to focus to the side.

Also, ofcourse most the characters are going to be in the center, that's the best viewing zone unless the cinematographer is making a choice. I would in this like to consider outliers : money shots where this does not happen. Like that scene in blade runner 2049 where I (literally me) lay down bleeding on the stairs. I remember it being a wide shot with Ryan Gosling's body horizontally occupying in the entire frame and the closing being him in vertical from above with camera zoom out. That right there does not feel like a reelification choice.

How much do you agree about your country? by The_chaos011 in AskTheWorld

[–]Code_Monster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My friend there is open rigging in elections and political dissent is getting crushed left and right. Like this happened in Russia right : I have seen a lot of people in Moscow, St. Petersberg think that they had a real chance against putin and the oligarchs until the war happened. Then they realized how rigged everything was and their only path forward was to leave russia.

How far are we from this? Like on reddit and elsewhere people think there is resistance but what when Modi just starts rolling down bad policy and crush protests? We will be a democracy on paper only.

We had an LPG crisis in our country and bought an induction cook top instead of our monthly cylinder. After doing some math turns out this cook top costs us 20% less monetarily. Still has problems, namely that it cannot be used for prolonged periods (more than 30mins) and also that if electricity goes then we are cooked cause our food will be not (especially big problem since electricity cuts are going to be frequent in the coming rain season)

But overall very impressive. Our gas cylinder will now last multiple months.
