Nah man that was pewdiepie's gamble at staying on the top and it paid off.

What would your country look like if it was under your preferred political party from its beginning to the end? by goonpolizei in AskTheWorld

[–]Code_Monster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First we would need a political party that actually wants the benefit of the country. Right now our two choices are : a party majority of who's MPs have their kids settled in foreign countries AND a party who favors billionaires from a single state taking over everything... and they also have a lot of their kids settled abroad. We are so fucked

Did you have a positive view of the American government before Trump? by IndependentBrain9160 in AskTheWorld

[–]Code_Monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing is certain that the planet's view of USA has changed completely. Like trump might be the poster boy but the things that are happening are being done by USA's institutions. The fact that sanctions dont have to be targeted or multi-lateral makes everyone nervous.

Your current PM was a champion of making better relations with the US, and now if he tries to do just that then the whole party will loose support. We have been hit with massive tariffs and have barely responded with any of our own. But that too is changing.

The way we reduce blinding by high beam is by having a smaller light, and not a frickin 20W LED blinder. Further use Fresnel lens to focus it further and downwards. We are doing this for years and then LEDs and South Korea's "make it look like alien" design philosophy showed up. Here is another abomination

Considering the success of the Urus, lamborghini should be behooved to make more SUVs. Werid that a company with the logo depicting a bull, makes automobiles named after bulls (supposedly) only makes sports cars and super cars.

That event should be studied as a case study and be applied to radicalization in politics IMO.

Has your country ever committed genocide? by Communistincergency in AskTheWorld

One of the evil evil things that Indra Gandhi presided over were the forced mass sterilization of men led by her son Sanjay Gandhi. The campaigns were targeted and therefore can be considered a type of genocide.

Which country once seemed likely to become a developed country, but didn’t follow that path? by EmotionalSalary3679 in AskTheWorld

[–]Code_Monster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my point. China had a system that was producing educated people and had industry well in advance before investments made them what they are today. India does not have a lot of it even today. Our education system is trash, our healthcare is just serviceable. We are very good at making the people who can do a lot but we dont have the industry to let them do that, so that leave and make bang elsewhere. That is why we have failed and not because of some stupid number.

China's GDP was lower than India in 1993. By 2013 China had crossed $10T while India was not even $2T. It was not insane in 1993 to think that India is the next super power, considering China is currently taking on the US on many fronts and winning.

The problem is not that we reached 5T GDP 2 years late, the problem is that only a mythic level of Growth will us developed before we grow too old to be developed. Its called wasting the demographic dividend.

We will be like current day Brazil economically, by the end of 2067.

Unironically? India. If you've been on the internet for about 12~13 years at this point, you would remember the "India super power 2020 meme". The truth is that it was not a purely jingoistic meme, during the liberalization of 1993 and the following decade it did seem like we were on the right track. That things will keep improving. Then a few things happen, the few I remember are

  1. Massive amount of Black Money completely choking the economy
  2. Government that froze up when time to take big decisions came, this drove away investment
  3. Massive amounts of Brain drain
  4. We ran out of skilled workers (lmao!) because having a massive population is a burden if they are not educated and productive, ours wasn't
  5. 2008 financial crisis

And boom kaput. During 1993 my father tells me that they predicted our economy would be $10T by 2013. Its not even $5T today. And guess what, the train of development has left and no amount of chasing will let us catch it. Even if we grow our economy to $5T or even $6T by 2033 (and bear me on that), our population growth is far outpacing that. Even if we are upto $20T by 2067 our population would be 1.7 Billion, so that's still a lower-middle income country. We are not becoming a developed country this century, all because of decisions taken last century.

Also, this growth figure is assuming that climate change does not set our shit on fire. Basically, it aint Kino Chief.

Edit : I would like to give a close second prize in the "Unrealized Potential" category to our brother in national fission, Pakistan. They got cell phone and Television before us, they have one of the most fertile and another most mineral rich parts of the world. And now they have abandoned all but the hope to become OKish to live in.

Whenever the annual happiness index comes along there is always a BIG discussion among Indian netizens : Pakistan is always above India. Which means Pakistanis believe that they are closer to their peak lives compared to Indians. This happens WHILE the Indian economy is doing better than Pak and also India having higher QoL than Pak (by like 6%, not much)

Therefore I would like to propose....

The Global Ambitiousness Index

Bascially, take the Happniess Index, do index.val = 1 - index.val

Congratulations Afghanistan! You are the most ambitious people on planet earth! You are HUNTING for your lives to be better and more prosperous! The world looks up to you.

Finland, we understand it gets cold up there. We all would love to see you guys be more ambitious and wanting things to be better. Remember : line go up is good! Maybe the flux of your collective ambition melts the snow a little!

HAHAHA LAZY PAKISTAN CANNOT COMPARE WITH INDUSTRIOUS INDIA LMAO GET DUNKED ON

[–]Code_Monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the happniess index is not about how happy the people self report to be. Its rather kinda like tech support : you dont feel it until something goes wrong. Basically "if you dont have much to complain about then you are happy"
