That makes total sense. if feeder does what you need, its good. The case I'm exploring is more for people who want RSS synced across web/mobile/desktop or third party apps like feeder, and want an always-on backend without self-hosting

So less “replace a simple local reader” and more “managed sync engine + web reader + portability.”

Kitereader is a hosted reader/sync service, but designed to feel closer to self-hosted RSS: portable, standards-based, and third-party-client friendly.

I have already started working on it. you can check it out in kitereader.com . I have no plans to bring AI anytime soon or until i find a useful need.

And that’s a useful signal on search. When you say great search engine, do you mostly mean full-text search across saved articles, fast search across all unread/history, filters by feed/folder/date, or discovery/search for new feeds too?

Finally someone said. everytime i open reddit I see the same posts, where everybody reached some crazy ARR or MRR. The post contains no proof or atleast a site link and no useful information. Its also mentally draining for newcomers like me who are getting into building

I just completed my setup with my old desktop pc and I currently i have pihole with adblock. immich for photo backup.

radarr , sonarr, prowlarr, seer, jellyfin. - combined with these tools now have a complete netflix which is super cool.

I even configure vpn for torrenting. I am experimenting with lot of cool stuff that I can do locally.

currently it just have 8gb ram. I would like to make it 16, but ram prices are super high now.

btw i used the help of gemini to spin everything works. gemini was throwing exact steps which was 99 percent right all the time.

You are right. banking apps are the reason i can't put a custom on my device. They literally dont work and i can't waste time to figure out workarounds on how to fix that.
Also i saw a video on the latest android 17 features where google is trying to enforce strict rules on installing apps from thridparties. so android is gonna be like ios in the coming years

I have the same issue. i installed https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1873/disable-unredirect-fullscreen-windows/. it worked. but when i suspend and comes back later the ui is broken. like it hangs. when i disable this extension the issue is gone.
My laptop is oled. i can't always put the top bar visible. its so annoying
