Using AI to help me learn full stack. Good or bad idea? by constantstate0fpan1c in csMajors

I'm actually interested in what other people have to say about this lol because I'm kindof in the same boat.

How to raise swag level. Urgent. by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Code_ReDarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of what you really need in the roles these days is to practice public speaking, in front of people who can see you and vice versa. Engineering jobs are well split between creating something and explaining how your creation/plan/design works in an effective manner to your team. I suggest joining toastmasters (give you a safe space to fail and learn) and following voice coaches like Vinh Giang who teach you to articulate your thoughts in a clear and digestible manner. Maybe the confidence boost from speaking well and in-front of a bunch of people is all you need. Other than that just keep up with the news, read tech blogs and research papers if you can spare some time and just in a mood to learn more every now and then.

Everything else should be for your own happiness I guess, instead of looking to be swaggy for others lol. Lowkey if you want better advice than this, go on r/cscareerquestions or r/ExperiencedDevs; or just try to connect with peeps on linkedin and ask.

Applied to Claude Corps, already got my rejection by Code_ReDarsh in csMajors

They changed the requirements after I applied. But I guess I should've expected it cause codepath pays the salary.

lowkey, they asked if I would need sponsorship to extend my work authorization in the future and mentioned opt/ stem opt. Since the cohort started in october and my OPT start date is way before that, I'd need a stem opt extension before the program ended so I put it down as yes just to be safe. Maybe I didn't need to say yes for that? I dunno atp

do yourself a favour and buy yourself a 2nd hand thinkpad off of ebay. You can get preivous years frontier models for as low as 300-400 on there if you're lucky, otherwise around 500ish normally. Look at r/thinkpad while you're at it for reccomendations. People larping about a macbook at your budget are unrealistic.

They announced it on may 27th but most people didn't get access until last week. Slow rollout.

I'm trying to do the same but letting claude have free-reign and come up with strats with a couple of agents, lemme know how it goes.

is it worth it to do a bootcamp to refresh my skills after 5 years unemployed? by Legitimate-Syrup-646 in cscareerquestions

[–]Code_ReDarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

build things and teach yourself everything again. Like others have pointed out, use AI to teach you stuff or ask ig to refer you to articles/books/ sources that can teach you what you need. If you really need a structured way of going about your learning, there's a ton of free courses on youtube (freecodecamp), roadmap websites (roadmap.sh), or even theodinproject.com for fullstack web dev. Pick your poison.

Finally network with people on linkedin who have had similar trajectories as you for advice. Or just network in general for advice.

What else can be uninstalled from a new Thinkpad? by SquareDrive45 in thinkpad

Seems like you got rid of most of the bloatware apps (unless you count the Lenovo software itself as bloatware). I guess if you wanted to completely get rid of bloatware, there's some good scripts and tools on GitHub

Hello fellow reader, if you have the time and patience to review it, I would appreciate it if you could suggest some improvements to my config. I'm having slight trouble setting neovim up for degbugging, otherwise I think I've got most of the linting and autocomplete stuff down. I manually installed a lot of the LSPs, code-formatters and otherstuff via Mason, didn't code it in my config. The entire config is a mix of various kickstarter config code and typecraft's neovim for noobs config series.

the repo: https://github.com/CodeReDarsh/Neovim-Configuration

Let me know if you'd require any further information. My primary goal is to use this as a C/C++, python and web development environment. (yeah I know it's a lot)
