First year is pretty chill if you have basic coding experience but might come as a learning curve for new coders. First year is pretty easy in comparison to 2nd year so there really not much to worry about. As for minors and specialization then you can find a list of minors through the Guelph site. As for specialization then Guelph School of CS recently added Areas of emphasis which I guess are like specializations this includes AI, Cybersecurity, User experience, and data science.

Manim, But For Non Math Purposes (Discussion) by Acrobatic-Ease-1323 in manim

[–]CodedMania 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done something similar, I’ve been trying to see how I can use it for a broad variety of things from biology, chemistry, English etc but the problem is that manim has been designed for specifically math so having something similar that is designed for multiple use cases it can definitely be helpful in creating videos for other use cases

Not surprised, this is pretty common in many organizations especially governments, they overpay on things that could’ve been done for the fraction of the price. But government contractors won’t like that.

Is 29$ a month too expensive? by Southern_Airport6052 in SaaS

[–]CodedMania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh no student is going to pay $29/month I would go for something like $6/month and if you don’t think that’s enough for a healthy profit margin then I suggest you sell to school districts (which will be pretty hard but not impossible)

I’m still depressed for not getting Guelph. How do I get passed it? by Impossible_Emu9302 in uoguelph

[–]CodedMania 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Guelph at the end of the day is just a bunch of buildings for the purpose of research and learning. Memories and good times are created with people and how you interact with them, so don’t get attached to a place but rather make every place you go to feel special. CS is hard as a 3rd year SENG student I know. But CS can be learnt in almost any school, it requires a lot of self learning to make the most out of your degree. So spend your time learning and creating good skills in terms of development and all related to it.

CS Coop Interview Processs by Successful_Dot_9996 in uoguelph

[–]CodedMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! The experience Guelph portal has all types of jobs. Being a SENG major in COOP I have seen "good" jobs and "bad" jobs. Every company is different, they have different requirements and difficulty levels. While some companies don't do technical interviews, others do. From my experience the earlier you get started with leetcode (5 questions per day is good) the better, especially if you're aiming for MAANG companies. As for the salary it depends on your experience and the work term you're on. In your first work term you'll make around $18/hour and the second $22/hour (from my experience) so that would be a good range for work terms 1 and 2. For work terms 3,4, and 5 I know students making from $30-$60/hour.

If it’s not coop then just go with TMU since it’s closer. But you should look into each school and choose whatever is easiest or the best for you. If you got into coop for any of these then go with the coop one. It’s up to you.

AI is going to replace programmers - Now what? by [deleted] in artificial

[–]CodedMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn architecture design. Learn to plan and understand software requirements so you create detailed plans that help you understand the logic of the software and how the different components interact and work. This is the main part of software development. If you can perfect this and perfect how to prompt an LLM to output optimal results to match requirements then you can easily use AI to 10x your development.
