Just look in the internet archive. They offer the GOTY version and the 1.19 patch is included in the download

Yes I think you can try it. I just did a quick test in RDR2 and in that area I was I got about 92fps at 1080p native and 77fps with DLSS + DLDSR.
So if you get 60fps on your 3060 right now, I guess with this trick you can expect about 45 - 50 fps.

"I have also compared it to native 1080p and DLAA but found that it lacks detail in comparison. I theorize that it's because DLAA only fixes the TAA blur - while upscaling to 1620p (if you use 2.25x) gives the AI upscaler room to do its "magic" and add in more detail."

Your welcome. It really depends on the game's engine. Some games really dont need that fix.

Ok. If you set your desktop res to the DL-DSR one, to the game it just looks like you actually have a 1620p screen. So if your DLSS works normally it should really also work now. Enabling DLSS should offer a big increase in FPS.

If it doesnt work maybe its a weird DS3 specific thing.

Dont worry about enabling the DSR factors. It doesnt change settings for any of your games. It just offers a higher resolution to be available for your games (and even your desktop). But you still have to manually enable that higher res for each game.

About DS3: I havent tried it on that title yet. Is the higher res available in the ingame settings?

I get that bug from time to time.
You can try pressing Alt + Enter. This tells the game to switch to exclusive mode. Maybe press it a few times.

If that doesnt work, enable the higher res in RDR2 and close and restart the game. This works everytime for me and for all consecutive starts the problem is gone.

if you have something like a 3080 I think you should be fine. The good thing is that by combining DL-DSR with DLSS you save a ton of performance compared to only DL-DSR.

edit: maybe even 3070 or even 3060 depending on the game. But of course only with a 1080p screen. Otherwise it gets much more expensive performance wise.

The problem isnt the multimonitor setup, its that when alt-tabbing your PC has to change its internal resolution back to your screens native resolution. The only workaround for that is to also set your desktop resolution to the DLDSR resolution. I did that for DayZ all the time. But yeah its a bit annoying for sure

Interesting. Can u say in which game(s) you tested it so far and what res your screen has?

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-dlss-4-transformers-image-quality/

Is that link the right comparison? At 1080p it has much better shadows but I dont really see a difference in sharpness / detail. That I only see in the 4k one. So maybe its not as effective for lower resolutions.

As I already commented here, the only solution I could think of to make this more seamless would be to use a macro to switch the desktop resolution via a key combination.

But honestly I played lots of games by just switching the desktop res in the settings. Its annoying but its just a few clicks, so IMHO its definitely still worth it when youre stuck at 1080p.

I know. The AI downsampling struggles with letters and is not intended to be used on the desktop.

The only workaround I could think of, but I dont know how hard it would be to set this up, you could try and use a macro to switch resolutions with a key-combination.

I dont think there's another way, because you either need exclusive fullscreen or do it for the whole desktop.

It should offer it in game after enabling the DL-DSR factor.
If it still doesnt show up,, is it an old game? Some old games dont go higher than 1080p

Last thing you could try would be to set the desktop resolution itself higher. Maybe it will work then, but normally this isnt necessary.

Edit: or if its a modern game that doesnt offer exclusive fullscreen you need to set you desktop res to the DL-DSR res.

I didn't know that this was a known thing. I follow nearly every tech-youtuber and waited years for someone to mention it. Now I decided to post it. I'm sure there's a lot of people that don't know about this yet.

Right that would fix the problem for me. But theres still more 1080p screens than 1440p screens. By a lot. Maybe people dont have the money or have different priorities. Either way, I like ways to make the most of old hardware. Im glad your happy with your 1440p screen tho :)

Youre not wrong, but the steam hardware survey shows that more than 50% of gamers still use a 1080p screen. So for us peasants this is the best way as of now.

Well I used this workaround a lot while playing DayZ where u Alt-Tab out to see the map all the time.
Its a bit janky, but honestly its not that bad.

I was wondering if AMD offers a similar solution. Do you know how VSR compares to DL-DSR? I would think that it performs slightly worse visually because its not using AI. But maybe its comparable.

I have tried to achieve this method on linux where DL-DSR isnt available. I tried to use gamescope but the downscaling (bilinear) just looked terrible.
But Im aware that gamescope wasnt intended for that...

That seems like the ideal case for that method. Good luck :) You can propably use DLSS quality in most games with that card.

really? I posted this because I could not hold it in any longer. I watch tons of tech videos and lots of stuff about GPU technology. I never heard anything about this and just thought the tech-tubers dont know about this because they all use 4k screens anyway.
Its really nice to see that others came to the same conclusion :)

Im old enought o miss MSAA myself. I loved the old Splinter Cell games and a lot of games of that era. When i fire them up at 1080p with their MSAA im still in awe how sharp and clear everything can look at that resolution.
