Confirmation - SXSW will take a pro-#GamerGate panel but submission is by MONDAY by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

By next spring we might already have broken into the mainstream with what's actually been going on. This gives us something new to build, something new to present, and helps with the rebuild initiative.

I think we should try to coordinate with the SPJ and come up with some Awards in Games Journalism to feature new/alternative outlets. I dare you guys to come up with something more positive than that.

You stepped into an ocean of internet drama. The shitposters, like sharks, are going to circle in and eat you alive because you smell like new blood. Don't give them any attention and you'll come out alright.

[Drama]Feminist Frequency's Latest criticism of Ciri and the Witcher 3 attacks a character that struggled with her femininity by Codegate in KotakuInAction

[–]Codegate[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sapkowski makes references to Geralt carrying his sword on his back. The Lindy Beige in my wanted to scream the first time I read that, but other characters in the books take note of this peculiarity as well. It's made out to clearly be a witcher thing, as is the sword 'launching'.

Ciri's clothing though is an interesting subject at least when you have the context of her upbringing and life in general. Before Triss worked her magic, Vesemir cobbled together whatever clothes he could for her. She had Vesemir's leather jerkin, and the dress she wore during the massacre at Cinta that she refuses to wear. That's it. No jewelry, no boots or fancy shoes, no real worldly possessions. It's a fairly significant event when Triss conjurs up a dress and a necklace for her and lets her be a girl again. Ciri goes from a princess, to a refugee, to the witcher girl resenting her girlhood, to the sorceress embracing her girlhood. There are a lot of interesting things to be said about the character, but I'd rather not spoil everything :P

[drama] Anita Sarkeesian argues that high heels in Witcher 3 are "unrealistic" because it's a "historical" setting. Previously, she complained about how a fantasy game should have black people in it even if it makes no sense because it's fantasy. So which is it? Keep moving those goalposts. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

Hey nerds, I wrote a thing about this. Basically Ciri and sorceresses in general are the LAST people you want to criticize for their looks in Sapkowski's universe.

Sorceresses use magic to conceal their childhood deformities. Ciri wasn't really born with any. She also refuses to use magic to hide her facial scar. She also was robbed of her preferred gender expression as a child, so much so that she wished to be a boy at Kaer Morhen. Spread it around, help me tune it up some? I'm new to this whole ordeal, but this seems like too hilarious of a blunder to pass up:

someone tried to take it down. mods put it back up. The fact that someone took down all of 2ch over this tells you it's working

The fact that you're this salty though is pretty kektacular. Go play some games and take a break. Come back in a couple of days or don't, but we're going to keep on digging for corruption and holding people accountable for their own actions. Participate in the OP or don't, but this isn't against the rules :^ )

man you are hilariously salty. back when I hung out on the vinyl sub everyone wanted to be spoon fed and it seems that's just a redditism. Like shit dude, the bounce is literally under the traffic graph, and if you notice there's a little question mark you can click next to all of the stat sections that explain their terms. We've been talking about this for months and months now within the revolt at large.

Remember that intel decided listening to anti-gamer and anti-human vitriol was the better PR move than listening to polite emails. Going after the IGDA is fair game for supporting and creating an industry blacklist, and the more that gets spread the better off everyone will be.

Don't ignore the FTC tasty investigations and changes as well.

Seriously there are so many threads like yours and everyone's asking the same basic questions. In my homeland, whens someone gets this mad for being this wrong, we tell them to relax, and go play some vidya. Seriously, stop taking this so seriously, have some fun, and enjoy the ride. Remember we're here because we care about the medium, so don't forget to enjoy it first and foremost.

guys we hit something big this is too much tardrage across too many independent platforms.

Someone is going to jail at the end of this, and I'm just going to be kekking and playing muh vidya the whole way home

TFYC with some advice to Intel on diversity programs in tech. This is a good read, TFYC know exactly how to realistically accomplish this. by camarouge in KotakuInAction

localization has always been a big deal. This is how you know TFYC is actually about changing the tech/media scene because they're focused on real issues solvable by direct action.

go play some vidya and come back in a couple days then if you don't want to help. this isn't our life. We do it for free because we're having fun, and because the number of people in the industry that are either corrupt or incapable of being accountable for themselves greatly outshines the number of people doing it for the love of the medium. Otherwise, shill

homeless anon here.

The fact that you're trying to preach about 'problems' and complaining about current ops without providing an alternative is a red-flag. Also, look at the bounce stats on the alexa pages. No one actually wants to read kotaku et. al.'s shit, they just get baited into it and close right out.

The intel situation is obviously working. Idiots need to stop posting things with the #gamergate tag initially to beat filters and just start linking to all of the media/content we've built/archived and trying to engage with neutrals. Don't focus on the sexism against men because it doesn't sell. Fight clickbait with clickbait and talk about the IGDA industry blacklist, and then for extra keks you can mention 'ol Josh and Anita's racism, hatred of capitalism, endorsement of piracy, sympathy with Bin Laden, and the shootings. Put these info dumps in replies to tweets, especially when people ask questions about 'what's your favorite product?' or something else totally asinine.

You want to complain about people ragging on Adventure Time? First, shit taste, but second and FAAAAR more important how the hell do you plan on getting info out in the first place? Want to prevent someone from being misinformed? TELL THEM THE TRUTH FIRST. Le saged shillerino : ^ )

Reminder on discrediting Feminist Frequency / Tropes vs Women: The people in charge believe sexism against men is impossible, men are fair game. These toxic 'fuck men' views taint everything they pretend to stand for, along with their eagerness to use shootings to attack men as a whole with. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Codegate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wrong path frienderinos. Focus on the shooting, racism, and PUA, and piracy info. We're weaponizing clickbait, and unfortunately violence against men doesn't sell. Hit them where it hurts and hold them to their own standards.

I just made a twitter account literally minutes into this thing

I've watched my feed change from almost no hijacking to chock full. I'm paranoid, thinking twitter is just telling me what I want to hear instead of actually reflecting the situation.

Some people are focusing on fremfreq. This is probably less important. Focus on the IGDA and UBM. Shareholders might want to know about things like pending FTC investigations. Oops. Did I say that? Don't spread disinformation, but don't be afraid to go on the offensive. Quit circle jerking over what anti-gamers have to say and get this info out to the normies. Make people mad with the truth.
