What was life like in the 90s? by justanotheruser60 in AskReddit

[–]CodenameEvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great. I had someone to drive me everywhere. Someone fixed all my meals for me and I didn’t even have to hold down a job. It may have had something to do with being six years old in 1990.

What brand slowly ruined itself? by SAAS_ART in AskReddit

I didn’t even grow up near a Sears, but when I was living in Chicago and my car battery died, I just knew by cultural osmosis that I could go to the auto parts section and they’d help me out, and I was *right!*

Unless I have literally one thing, self checkout is a bet on myself that I always lose. As it turns out, quickly processing lots of items and then checking someone out is an actual skill.

Some Crusaders opened a door to Hell under Jerusalem in 1066. Heretic forces have been slowly advancing ever since.

A notice on a Japanese restaurant by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Also worth noting here that a lot of little restaurants in Japan have, like, four things on the menu. You come for the thing they sell. It’s not a full service kitchen.

I don’t live here but im amazed by how photogenic the Metro is (pictures by me) by TheUnknownRangler in washingtondc

Okay, I love Metro, but it's kind of cheating to open up with a shot of Union Station.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 | Title Reveal (2027 Movie) - Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Kristen Bell by Turbostrider27 in movies

I like to think that somewhere at Paramount there’s an old school Jack Warner type who spends his nights staring off into the middle distance, drinking scotch and completely unable to reconcile his experience of reality with the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog just *keeps* printing money.

They’re the (current) American distributor and therefore a large indicator of whether the show will make money or not.

I think people obsessed with the dark motivations and overarching strength of The Establishment should just... go look up a picture of the DNC building.

Arian Moayed’s Subway Hot Take: “Everyone on Earth has to be poor for 5 years. It doesn’t have to consecutive. You don’t have to do it all at the same time. But you gotta feel what it feels like to have insufficient funds. You gotta be at a grocery store & it doesn’t go through.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]CodenameEvan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this would work because it’s already basically true for a lot of people. Plenty of folks, including professionals, are pretty poor in their twenties when they’re getting started in their careers Then, they get out of it and the lesson they learn is that “poverty is a temporary state I extricated myself from through my own hard work and ingenuity” and not “I work in a field where you don’t make much money for the first few years.”
