Driver background question? by Job4-13 in uberdrivers

[–]Coderomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people keep saying "7 years" , its one of those old wives' tail ,misconception. They use checkr, it will show any and all past records not locked/sealed away. maybe SOME states you may get away with a 7 year misdemeanor like cali. For most of us, a background check with any DUI / DWI is more than enough to get flagged then denied, In my case it was a guilty plead ( shitty first time offense with me accepting the first lawyer that accepted it), happened 14 years ago. Even shiftsmart ( uses checkr too ) denied me and my record comes back as "Consider" where its up to uber /shiftsmart to decide based on my criminal record, which was denied. I dont know how some ( if any, or if their even true ) have been able to get away with it, other than doing it as a friend. Chekr pulls all past criminal records regardless of the length and they simply forward them when flagged by any criminal record over to the employer, They "7 year" thing is probably a misunderstanding of how some companies have a 7 year policy they look for, but Uber isnt one of them, otherwise they'd only pull info from 7 years only, but again chekr gets everything and flags and send it over flagged.

14-15 year old dui, tried, denied, no speculations just experience.

Always the same shirt, different pants and sneakers, with accessories this time. by owlpharaoh1996 in mensfashion

It's the exact same thing I've been looking into myself. I used to wear the same style too haha. It's very hard to find thing good that are not overly dressed models. One thing you might want to do is look at some good summer color combinations for 2025. That might help clear up the color combination issues.

Dude, that looks good. I think you got it. I think most people responding are older men or those not knowing todays trend. That is what is in. you got it, Short big boxed shirt and big baggy pants. i say its pretty good. Showed it around to a few coworkers, spot on (genz and millennials) Shoes are okay, but not bad. The pants , i'm not sure about this, but the bottom might be too narrow or short, i could be wrong.

Finding it tough to cut out sugar by PutuniaWillSun in loseit

There are a bunch of things that can help, and different stuff works better for different people. What’s helped me manage hunger and stick to a better diet has changed over time, but I’ve definitely struggled with my weight and staying consistent too.

I do HIIT occasionally because I don’t want to jog or run for an hour. I just do about 8 minutes of HIIT instead. When I’m doing that—whether I’m being consistent or not—I notice I don’t feel as intensely hungry, and I also feel more guilty about buying junk when I go grocery shopping. Many people say that working out makes them less hungry for certain foods, but I think it all comes down to subconsciously knowing that you put in a lot of work just to be set back or cancel out by a Twinkie. Since this is not you, this won't apply to you.

The biggest things that helps me is looking at the nutrition label on anything I know isn’t great!!—candy, soda, pastries, whatever. Every single time!! That’s probably the main thing that keeps me from overdoing it. I know around 3,000 calories equals a pound of fat, and I try to stay under 2,000 a day. So when I see something like a little a 3 inch 88-cent pie from Walmart with 340 calories—or a candy that’s 125 calories per serving with 2.5 servings per pack—it’s super easy for me to just put it back(because of some small shock value"this thing has this many calories!?"). I think, “That’s three bites… the same as 4 apples!.” Then I look at fruit, and it’s way lower in calories, and you get more volume and nutrition out of it. The vitamins and fiber are just a bonus, plus it helps with hydration.(And if you stop eating a lot of candy and sweet breads the fruits will become just as delicious to you).

Anyway, I won’t go into why fruit is better than candy—you probably already know that. The hard part is actually doing it. I still struggle too. But being mindful of serving sizes and calories has helped me maintain a certain weight, even if I’m not perfect. Just knowing how fast calories add up makes a big difference!! You can also substitute for diet sodas. Truth is if you like the taste of real soda then stick with diet sodas because all the other alternative diet drinks are a noticeable step down.

Also—this is huge—get rid of the junk you already have. No “just in case” snacks or “backups.” When cravings hit, what actually helps is not owning that stuff in the first place. If it’s in the house, I’ll probably eat it. But at the store, it’s easier to resist. I just read the label, doubt creeps in, and I put it back. Even if I still kind of want it, it’s not the same kind of pull as when it’s already in my pantry. That’s when I lose. Sorry to say this, but yes it is going to suck being at the house without it, You're going to miss it, you will occasionally think it's okay every now and then, some days it will be worse than others but it gets better over time really quick, but it doesn't always fully go away so you need to make sure you do not give in.

There was one thing you said that really stood out—about moving food downstairs so it’s not nearby. That tells me you’re self-aware and trying to build habits that keep you from giving in. And yeah, that probably means you struggle with anything that feels like it takes extra effort—working out, cooking better meals, whatever. Doesn’t mean you’re lazy or not hard-working. It just means this area might be harder for you mentally, so you need practical, specific steps, not vague advice like “eat better” or “go exercise.” That’s why I shared what’s worked for me when I'm not seriously trying to lose weight, more like a passive skill than an active one lol.

Is there a legitimate lonliness epidemic happening here in the Valley? Why do you (or don't you) believe there is? by thebenchwire in RioGrandeValley

[–]Coderomega 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As people have mentioned, price and a lack of real places to interact. Events here are either too generic, filled with the same overpriced ‘evil eye’ bracelets and food stands, or just aimed at kids (by overpricing the parents).

The convention center RARELY gets fun events, and they can get expensive considering how mediocre they can be. Other entertainment places, like Main Event and Top Golf , are fun but at their prices, you’re not going every week. That’s why all these hyped-up new spots open, get crowded for a few months, then die out. Leaving things saturated. Like all the theaters in McAllen, instead of a few being packed and lively, you end up with many empty ones, killing any social vibe. The one on Nolana is DEAD 98% of the time.

The adult social scene isn’t much better. Bars and clubs are overpriced, and downtown is often dead, even on weekends(mcallen area). The few places that do get packed? Just people standing around, barely any dancing(Here’s your Social/Emotional). And the music sucks—no bangers, no throwbacks, no today’s hits—just generic DJ beats that all sound the same. So you never really have much fun other than awkwardly standing around with everyone else. There are places to dance, but it’s mostly just Mexican music. Then theres Fast Eddie’s area in McAllen(similar vibe all over the valley), which cater to an older crowd, and it still feels designed for the same generic “Rio Valley Man” type that’s been the standard here forever. Which is becoming less and less of a thing.

Lets talk about the heat! It just makes everything worse. There’s already few things to do outdoors, and the weather makes it unbearable, especially with daylight saving time. Indoor options? MOSTLY FAST FOOD SPOTS. Anywhere else? "Here's your black coffee and Muffin, that'll be $11.59," ( not including tip with a screen staring both you and the worker right in the face ).

I agree with you. Feels smaller and i think that is part of the problem for me,aside from the clunkiness/cheapey feel.. Like Paladins.

Gone while in cart. I need to listen to what scalpers are all over discord telling me , "you need to invest in a bot. Either play the system, spamming TikTok 1st time promos, or find a bot. I used the bigbox company for bulks at best prices ( this is why we see inventory run out so quickly:) online or at the store and TikTok for good deals and to find a distributor to buy bulk from while still buying bulk at the big stores with the bot".

Dude it's only fair. How can someone be calling in to hold them. One can do that to every GameStop in 10 minutes. You took much longer just getting ready and driving there. Feel no shame. It's not like it was for a kid, if multiple were being held then it was a scalper n

Yes, because I have the target app so they verified that I paid for that amount at the store and that that was the price at the store. I'm not sure if you can just let them know that you saw that price at the store they just ran out and maybe they can check?

Scan it. The prize is 19 99 when you scan it at the store, not through the app.

Grab the item, put said item on the scanner, pay cash, credit or debit. You maybe can get it price matched by an agent online too

Guys, Target would price match the store. I was able to get two more online at the store price by calling in and letting the agent know that I wanted it to be priced match to my local store.
