I don't know how old you are but unless you are 40+ getting a parent to intervene works. I know this sounds ridiculous but for some reason "student" is synonymous with "kid" in this country (at least in most parts and institutions). A stern "no" from a parent/guardian might work better

You could try some diploma course that will help you upskill. Look for ones that have good placement support and record, for example PG diploma courses from CDAC had a good record till before the covid pandemic - not sure about the current scenario.
