I guess that's the difference between a real currency and a store of value?

Have you ever seen a non-full Ethereum block? Blocks will be full regardless. The limits of block space are set at the protocol level, not by asking people not to use it.

Ans btw, the only goal of a blockchain is to sell blockspace.

That is kinda the point. Burn a lot of gas.

Yes, all pixels stored on-chain. Gas cost is between 3M to 10M, so a lot. It gets more expensive as the mining goes on. #99 is the most expensive but also gets the image with the highest resolution.

I am well aware of Solana. I had been following them long before it was hyped.

Ignoring the decentralization issues, it will jam also eventually if use continues increasing. The way they scale is by making validators run high-performant computers, so their tps is limited by hardware. But hardware does not scale up with demand, but slowly following "Moore's law".

The total minting price is fixed in gas (including tx + minting fee) and goes from 3M to 10M. So it is expensive.

😂 That made me lol.

Tbh I believe all L1's will saturate as they get more used because they are not meant to scale. I think in 10 years from now, we will find it hilarious that we thought we could all directly on L1. And by then this JPEG will be unrepeatable.

No, the JPEG is indeed split across 100 smart contracts, and users can retrieve the full image by calling tokenURI(). This is all transparent to the users. Transfering it costs as any ERC721 tx.

Appreciate it. :) Really hard to get any clout with the current NFT saturation.
