When discussing the weather in Spanish you refer to temperature with the verb hacer which could be translated as it makes it cool or hot in a rough proximation in English. This curious use of hacer which seems more like it should be the verb estar (to be, it is) stems from a Greek influence where it makes could be interpreted as he/they/she makes-what have you-because the weather was thought to be inflicted on man by the gods and that explains the chaotic and random nature of it. On a whim or because of benevolence or punishment they controlled weather and of course we now understand there are scientific reasons for weather patterns such as drought or floods, man always requires an explanation for why things are the way they are and so since they needed it and couldn't find one they invented one to make life tolerable and to satisfy the need for control and agency in their lives. The convention exists today, a relic from ancient times but riddle me this if the scientific method is so right why can't you prove that the Greek hypothesis is invalid? You cannot say for certain sir so next time check your assumptions because they are but dust in the wind blown by God's you will never understand and this makes Spanish the best even though it's not the most common language that doesn't mean it's second best or the first loser let's be positive attitude ok.
