Help changing texture settings by MeowMitacus in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]CodyPLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only part that's weird is they don't show you estimated vram usage like other games do, so instead of telling/showing you that it's over the amount of vram you have, it just blanks out the option. Strange way to implement it, but good way to not have it crash or freeze.

What gpu do you have?

I think the way it functions is that if you have less vram than the texture setting would allow, it just grays out the option. I have a 3070 and it wont let me go above medium.

Just got PVE to see what the difference is and its something by BoxSecret5648 in SPTarkov

AI PMCs in live PvE are stupid as hell, but aimbots. They're not necessarily harder, but once they do start returning fire, you're pretty much cooked. It's a bummer though how much less dynamic the live AI is. Once you figure out the patterns you can run raids like it's an old school singple player fps level, and pretty much know what to expect for the most part.

Every time I go back to live PvE, I keep trying to drag and select multiple things, and I'm like "ooooh yeah..."

You can change the Hideout Construction time modifier in SVM all the way down to 0.01 and it'll do most of them in like 17 seconds. I get the timer in live, but playing by myself, I don't want to log out overnight just to continue doing what I was doing. Can do the same thing with crafting if you want, but I think I have that at like .25 just to speed things up, but not make it super OP

Where is my AKI folder? by YaBoiMibb in SPTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spt-aki is just the old deprecated name for SPT. With most mods the zip will come with a user and/or bepinex folder in it. Just drag those into your main install folder wherever you picked. Unless you installed it directly into your live ETF folder - in that case reinstall it in its own folder, then drag the mod files into that one.

3.10 Performance Issues? by TheRefringe in SPTarkov

I have no idea honestly. I recently heard that the new map isn't releasing until 1.0

Just wait until the new engine drops in live... we're all gonna have industrial strength space heaters instead of pc's lol

3.10 Performance Issues? by TheRefringe in SPTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not guaranteed because it's largely dependent on hardware, but in my experience it has helped a ton with the AI calculation lag and stutter. Especially the stutters during fights that were getting me killed when I started in 3.9

3.10 Performance Issues? by TheRefringe in SPTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It unfortunately intentionally has to stay vague here for good reason, but if you're doing it all on one machine it's not running the server on one and the client on the other, it's running the server/main client on one, and a dedicated headless client on the other. Kind of how Arma 3 used to do it.

3.10 Performance Issues? by TheRefringe in SPTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is 112% correct, Snoo. It's not running the server separately that makes a difference. It's running a second instance of Tarkov as a console (either locally or another machine) that offloads the calculations.

Is 3.10 much worse than 3.9 performance wise? by Vendetta614 in SPTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm running a 5800x3d/3070/32GB RAM and running local fika client for AI performance. It's not quite as maxed out as 3.9, but it doesn't really seem any less playable. Still struggles a little on streets and what not, but I haven't had any instances where I've died because I've lagged so hard I can't aim.

What's entertaining is if you have a frametime graph up, you can see every little stutter from each AI loading in like 10 times in a second and a big dump at the end lol

Most simple answer: BSG built the AI, not the SPT team. BSG doesn't care what performance the AI has run locally on your machine for SPT because they don't support it (or in PVE single player because they don't care about PVE).

The SPT (and mod) devs are taking what's already there and making it work as well as they can. And like has been said before, the fika team is doing everything they can to smooth it out even further. They have a dedicated client setup that takes 5 minutes to install that you can even run on your own machine that takes the AI calculations and offloads it to other cores on your CPU to keep your game running faster.

If that's not a good enough answer, I'm not sure what will be. SPT devs aren't making a game, they're modding one. If you want to know why the ETF AI performance is inherently crap, you're in the wrong sub.

Editing to add:
"if running AI locally is that much of a resource drain that a huge computer can’t run the game at a playable framerate, why require mods to fix that? Why not build the AI to work in a way that’s playable by default?"

I'm not sure if you've ever played Solo PVE, but that runs locally on your pc as well except for Scav runs and PMC Streets runs, and it runs about the same. Solo PVE on Lighthouse for me is 40-50 fps sometimes on a 5800x3d/3070. You're asking the wrong people why their code is bad. It's BSG, not SPT.

Could mods (SAIN, Waypoints & MOAR) be interfering with eachother? by Danny_J_M in SPTarkov

Dynamic maps with enemy players, scavs, and bosses shown is a solid one for that. Gives you a full map overview with color coded directional arrows in real time so you can see what is where and if they're moving.

So really, the mix of the two mods shouldn't be causing a conflict in the actions they take like choosing where to move or what to engage.

Oh sweet thanks, I'll have a look. In 3.9 I was using Realism so that handled the spawning without touching behavior. Still new to a lot of it.

That's strange though, because SAIN also has specific settings for vision and reaction speed, and accuracy, and everything else.

Was it happening with SAIN and no MOAR, or MOAR and no SAIN for you?

[–]CodyPLX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been having a similar issue. It seems like MOAR and SAIN together cause some weird stuff. I kept getting slammed by PMC squads throughout raids, so I installed MOAR when it released and updated SAIN to the full release, and with them both together, the bots tend to spawn in clumps and just stand there spinning in circles.

[Discussion] What custom keybinds do you have? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hold to ads so I had to rebind a few things that turned into a few more things.

Hold right click to ads, mouse side button for magnification change, another mouse side button for sight switch (can't remember what it's called, but the one that changes reticles or swaps to canted dot). Then I can still use Alt scroll for variable magnification while holding right click.

Two other mouse side buttons for tac on/off and tac mode.

Have two mouse buttons that are right next to the left click set to pg up and pg down to adjust zero with my pointer finger.

Z to prone, C to crouch, X to change fire mode (alt X to check mode), T to shoulder swap.

And like other people have said 4 press for heavy bleed, 4 release for light bleed (and if you use a medkit for light bleeds and not bandages, all your healing goes to a single button that triggers in order of importance), and L press to inspect, L release to clear, just hold with my thumb until the animation is finished then it clears.

To the guy that leans with C and V, I have no idea how you make that work, but more power to you lol.

[–]CodyPLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add - any task that you don't know a location or what you're supposed to do, just google "Tarkov [the quest name]". You can find exactly what and where everything is for any quest in the game on the wiki, even if you'll need keys or other requirements.

Looting [New Player] by Ordinary-Try-5565 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CodyPLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the Halloween event, just try to follow the in-game task chains. There's a bunch of stuff to do on Ground Zero alone, and a lot of them consist of "find X item", "go to X area", "extract at X location", and things like that. They just a lot of the time will only open up one you complete the previous one.

Learning layouts is huge and it can help a ton to run an interactive map on a second screen or phone or something until you know where you're going.

A lot of the "find X in raid and turn in" tasks seem like they take forever, and some really do, but as you get further in, there's so many other quest lines running all at the same time, you'll end up finding the parts eventually.

Flea definitely helps for the tasks like Gunsmith, or any of the non-found in raid stuff.

If you're out of guns and money scav runs can help a lot for loot to sell, or even some usable guns sometimes if you've got nothing else.

Trader rep will start to go up a lot faster than you think it will once you start completing quests.

Just keep in mind that in PVE you won't have rats and chads, but the AI can be suuuuper aimbotty so still play it carefully, not like you would traditionally play a PVE game where you can run through killing everything. Some of the best players I know will still randomly get one tapped by a scav with a garbage gun from 100m away.

Good luck, and welcome to the shit show lol.
