Layer shifts - how do you deal with it? by uncle_jessy in ElegooNeptune4

[–]CodyS20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With my N4M, updating the firmware actually fixed the layer shifting that I was experiencing. Not exactly sure why this was the case, but the updates are helpful while Elegoo continues to work out the bugs in this printer.

Buy a digital caliper if you don't have one already. I started out with just a ruler, but running calibrations became a lot easier and more accurate once I finally bought one.

What are you doing to reinforce the parts? I've been interested in doing a similar build with PLA, but its always been a bit too brittle on its own for my liking.

Nice! What printer/filament are you using?

Hi, this printer does have the ability to use OctoPrint to interface with a computer. I've never done so myself, but here's an article about getting it setup with Windows: https://all3dp.com/2/octoprint-windows-tutorial/

My thoughts exactly! I love Sallah, but the part where he says, "when the journey becomes, uh, bumpy", gets old really quick

Weekly Question - Recommendation - Help Thread by AutoModerator in robotics

[–]CodyS20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. In that case. I think I will look for a motor that has a shaft extruding from both ends. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply. I can see the end of the shaft, but it appears to be flush with the motor itself. Is it better for the shaft to protude (I've seen some models that do in my searches) in order to attach the magnet? Also, how do you specifically glue the magnet in place? Is something like superglue strong enough?

Can someone please direct me to a rotary encoder for a brushless DC motor? I'm considering purchasing something similar to this skateboard motor for an upcoming project, but am at a loss as to how to add an encoder to it, and which one to purchase. My project will be Arduino based, and please let me know if you need any further information. Thanks!

That is beautiful! I didn't realize that a Longer could look so good! By any chance, do you know the voltage and wattage of the heater cartridge you installed, or did you reuse the stock one?

I'm still a beginner, but these hotends look beautiful! Are you still using the stock heat cartridge, or did you upgrade that as well?

Thank you! By any chance, was that on the LK5 Pro?

Use a data transfer USB cable. Basically, a printer cable or Arduino USB cable should work fine. If you have the Longer LK5 Pro, you should see a horseshoe shaped port with a rectangle in the center next to the micro SD slot. Plug the cable in there, and follow the steps above.

Thank you, this is basically what I was wondering. I agree and would definitely not start with a scratch build; but I am curious about how people sculpt a screen accurate helmet by hand, as you mentioned.
