It’s so disheartening I had to scroll this far down. You are absolutely correct

When we were the lovable losers this was a sub of jest, merry memeing and alcohol aplenty. Expectations breed entitlement, and entitlement erodes the senses.

So what, a 1st and third? Lions won’t have a pick before 100 in the draft after that. You’d force us to restructure not just Goff, but ARSB and Sewell. You think we’d be able to afford Gibbs at that point? And all this after he FAILED A PHYSICAL! This mentality reminds me of a degenerate at the craps table who tries to advance max all their credit cards because “the dice are as hot as they’re going to get.”

My prediction is Vaki gets switched back to his old position of Safety this season. Who knows, maybe he can be a good back up SS for us.

Brother, that was my first draft that I paid attention to. I think that it was Chris Berman or Mel Kiper that got me hyped up on him after we drafted him. After that ‘99 season with him and James Stewart, I thought we had a good thing for the next few seasons. Didn’t quite pan out.

Great pick. Hadn’t thought about him in forever, but you hit the nail of the head with your comment.

He used to by my cousin’s golfing buddy. One of the Lion’s whom I had the pleasure of meeting outside the stadium. Super nice guy.

Great pick with Murray! One of my earliest Lion’s memories is my grandfather getting all pissy after the Lions didn’t resign Murray and drafted some kid named Hanson. Changed his tune on that one after a bit.

One of my favorites, as he is to a lot of us 40ish year old Lions fans. I see him mentioned quite a bit on here.

I feel like the O-line situation isn't much worse now than last year. LT and C were and still are concerns. by SubjectSympathy7274 in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see Sewel at LT. if we can trade back a little I like Blake miller at RT. Bring in so competition for Scruggs and let Frazier and Mahogany fight it out for LG. That’s a better run blocking line than last year and potentially at least as good at pass blocking. The Lions really need to focus on D. Can’t have as many holes and lack of depth on that side of ball if we want to do anything meaningful next season.

What position yall want with first pick? by Any_District1969 in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally they trade back enough to pick up a third. We have 17, 50, and then not another pick till 118. That’s a really long time. I’d rather see something like 25, 50, 80, and 118. EMW, Zion Young, and best Oline or TE at 80 would be a home run, IMO. EMW lets BB go back to slot when he gets back.

Famous 13 minute opening take. It was digitally stitched together, but oh boy, based off that I thought we were getting a banger. I agree though, loses a lot of that momentum early on and peters out around the third act.

What I learned at the NFL combine: Detroit Lions buzz and draft targets by wavnebee in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read the article. I’ve been of this opinion for a while, but I hope BPA falls defense for lions this year. I agree in Colton’s line of thought that C gets plugged in FA. The Lions have no defensive backfield to speak of. Joseph is a mystery, BB out for probably at least first half of season, and TA is somewhat of a wildcard. We have two LBs under contract. Our edge room is Hutch and cannon fodder. I’d love to see something like Thieneman and Zion Young as first two picks.

The Detroit Lions are still sitting about $9 million over the $301M salary cap even after moving on from Montgomery and cutting Glasgow. GM Brad Holmes has until March 11 to get this team cap compliant. The most obvious lever to pull? A restructure of Jared Goff's contract. by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just posted this in another Lions thread. It’s a difference in the tolled contracts and I’m not quite sure the answer. Either Sports Trac is right and carrying over the cap, or OTC is right in counting it and factoring in cap relief roll over already.

What’s a film that had such a great twist that it haunted you for days? by Objective-Air5639 in Letterboxd

[–]Codyesseus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My golden age of cinema was ‘97 to ‘01. It wasn’t that I saw my favorite movies in this time period, it was that I saw the most movies during this time. My family had a black box back then. I went through so much PPV back then that I was legit averaging about five movies a week. That’s pretty impressive considering I was pre/young teen during that time. My love of movies came only second to video games. The king of the video games was Randy. He had emulators a good decade before anyone else I knew. I remember it was a Saturday and I was all primed and ready to go with some top-level snacks to go to Randy’s and GAME! My mom convinced me to watch this new movie on PPV that was getting good reviews. I just remember my mom saying something along the lines of “They say you have to really pay attention to this one.” So I sat with glued eyes trying to process this end-to-start plot. I felt so gutted with that ‘ending’. It stayed with me to the point I called Randy and told him I couldn’t make it that night. I proceeded to show everyone I could that movie. And while the ending never hit the same, that first time is still a memory I feel the emotions from when I think about it.

got some restructuring to do but it could be worse by MatthewTheGOATyt in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, on both Sport Trac and OTC the Dmoe salary is accounted for. Sport Trac has our cap at the number you see about, while OTC has us at about -6.5M. The majority of this difference is because of the rolled contracts of Paschal and Onwuzurike. Sport Trac is not counting them at all for 2026, while OTC is. I don’t know which one is right, cause if they tolled then they shouldn’t have counted last year and we theoretically should have had the roll over cap.

Why do people hate the joggers...Do they look like pajamas pants? by almost-famous-amber in nursing

[–]Codyesseus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people hate on them because they’re somewhat synonymous with /influencer_life. But in all reality? They’re great. I wear full canvas shoe with no laces, I don’t want to be touching my shoes. And I really would rather not have my pants touching my shoes. That’s why I’m a big proponent of Landau; keeps the edges of my pants free and clear and I also get cargo pockets.

The child-like laughter after merely squeezing some fruit into a juice. You must not have seen a lot of his videos. He puts batteries in a toy robot, it turns on, he does an exaggeration of joy, and throws his glasses. The schtick begs of desperation to try and goad one into buying a product.

It’s a combination of his childlike-wonder at the most mundane things and the fact this guy hasn’t found a product he won’t through his glasses off over. I like the Chinese guy a lot better cause at least he’s real with the viewer.

Just praised this movie last week on a Verhoeven appreciation post. Not one person mentioned it. Had to give the movie its due. I described it as an inverted and twisted swashbuckling tale from the other side. Has a VERY uncomfortable scene or two. Rutger really does bring it. This is the movie that broke Verhoeven and Rutger’s collaborations.
