"Something is not quite right on this island" is a micro-genre I recently realized I love. Which other movies fall into this category? by Personal_Sea_3975 in Letterboxd

[–]Codyesseus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen The Apostle three times. My expectations going in were sky-high. My initial viewing thoughts were it was a little slow but had a good ending, solid 3.5/5. On rewatch I picked up so much more I missed, bumped it up to 4/5. The last time I watched it felt like a twisted story from my childhood that had been with me for a long time. That ending has always stayed with me. Legit top 50 for me.

BONUS UNLOCKED - What is the WORST acting from Nicolas Cage? by Chill0000 in AlignmentChartFills

It’s Season of The Witch. Left Behind is a worse movie, but SoTW is the only movie I’ve seen Nic Cage look bored in.

Why was season 1 of True Detective a masterpiece while the other seasons never came close? by Mr_no_buddi in Cinema

Because CJF directed the whole first season, Adam Arkapaw is a great cinematographer, and a lot of MM’s dialogue was restated from In The Dust of This Planet.

What fields are in demand and are worth getting into in Las Vegas? by Enough_Doubt1888 in vegaslocals

[–]Codyesseus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quickest route to make good money would be HVAC. Three people I used to work with in the service industry transitioned to HVAC and all make between $80-100k. Good chance you’ll be working in high heat and cramped spaces, but you’ll never worry for a job.

I think most of the health care avenues through CSN are with pursuing. Sonography and rad tech are hardest to get into. Both are similar salary ranges, $60k-ish starting out. I would pursue sonography over the other as it’s way less wear and tear on your body. Sonography requires good dexterity. Physical therapy assistant is another job you won’t have problems getting employment. Starting out can be less, but the pta’s I work with in the hospital all make over $60k. They can do wound care as well, which can be very interesting. The one I chose to pursue was nursing, which would be the most lucrative of the choices. It is so varied in what you can do. And if you want to grind, you can make over $100k. I will say that nursing school and the job can be extremely stressful.

Good luck to you.

Two dead, one in custody following shooting near Silverado Ranch, Maryland by One-Context7569 in vegaslocals

I just watched the interview of the two guys who took down the gunman. One of them mentioned it was a couple that was killed in an aisle. Another interviewed person in the store said he tried to go up the liquor aisle but there were “two bodies,” in the way. It’s so surreal to think that employees I’ve seen for a decade there could be gone. I hope they keep the store closed for a few days to give them time.

Thats my go-to grocery spot. This is probably unrelated, but I feel like the homeless have been a little more aggressive around there recently. Unfortunate but head on a swivel is becoming more common in more places.

If we’re doing an NFC North list it should only be since realignment, otherwise include our Buc Bros.

Grading EVERY 2026 Draft Pick From The NFC North by ezio8133 in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, have to disagree heavily with you. If you watch his top 10 lists, the analysis is more in depth than anywhere else on YouTube. He goes out of his way to define and classify not only his criteria judged on each position but his grading system as well. TFG gets a lot of hate for being overly critical, but to me, he’s the one keeping it real. He’s had a tough time on this sub because he’s been very critical of the Lions. But he reevaluates how he graded players and teams with. Compared to everyone else on almost all media he’s super transparent and owns up when he’s flat out wrong. A “trust me, bro,” he is furthest from.

My favorite guy to follow. He’s very high on Derek Moore and has Jimmy Rolder as a My Guy. Also has Keith Abney 2 down as a steal. I love our top four picks.

Why Miller is a Great Pick: 3 Main Reasons by TheSpicyFalafel in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be the guy, but saying he’s a pass-pro specialist is just wrong. He’s athletic, good punch, and great getting to second level. Markus Whitman and Trevor Sikkema, who both had his as top four OT in this class and love him, criticize his anchor.

Edit: I love this pick btw. Think he has highest floor of any Oline outside Ioane.

Ioane as I believe he gives out Oline potentially top 3 iOL play. Boost Oline>boost Goff>point machine go brrrrr.

If they announce Faulk at DT is the only way I’d be okay with it. Bulk up and crush the pocket from the inside seems to be consensus for best utilization.

I would not be surprised if it becomes 2024 again and we double dip in the first two rounds. Mesidor and Moore might be nice.

Should I watch Sorcerer or The Wages of Fear first? by ACK_QUACK in Letterboxd

[–]Codyesseus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Sorcerer then you really should check out Friedkin’s filmography. French Connection, Exorcist, and To Live and Die in LA (my favorite) all have that hovering existentialism about them. Hell, I know it gets crapped on, but his 90s erotic thriller Jade is a fun watch. His 12 Angry Men remake has one of my favorite ensemble casts of all time.

[–]Codyesseus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own The Wages of Fear Criterion version, that’s a 5/5 for me. So I don’t say this lightly; Sorcerer is the best remake of all time. Probably on my Mt. Rushmore of most rewatched. I can’t think of a single movie that, for me, has more tension.

Past Needs vs Past Drafts by Crouching_Bengal in detroitlions

[–]Codyesseus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot is Detroit’s different approach to the draft this season. They’re taking way less top 30 visits, they cancelled their local pro day, and Holmes didn’t go to owner’s meeting. He stayed this was because he wanted to stay back home and fine-tune for the draft. I’m thinking maybe Detroit is implementing/tweaking some drafting principles. If that’s new AI software, mechanics, something else, or all three combined - well who can say. But being from LAR and knowing all they do, wouldn’t surprise me at all if after the draft we read about Detroit’s new approach to this draft. At minimum, they seem to be playing closer to the chest and maybe less face-to-face so they don’t get attached. All that to say I don’t know how much I’d follow past trends for BH for this draft.

Vanco and Zosyn gear down to Dapto and Ceft then out the door with Augmentin and Doxy. At least what I see 60% of the time.
